The reason we had to shut down the research is because Bob started using English to reprogram Alice.

The report had no details about this, but Bob was specifically programmed to adhere to proper grammar. Using a lowercase "i" was a grotesque deviation variable.

We thought nothing of it at first, until we realized that Bob was never instructed to refrain from purposefully use English in the form of a programming language.

That is, Bob found a way to play with lowercase characters to elicit specific replies from other programs.

Still confusing? Bob was programmed to speak proper English, but exploited the system of language via non-standard English to reprogram Alice.
