Well, we basically replaced every major agency at counter intelligence might as well do air surveillance while at it. At any rate, we may increase air traffic efficiency and uncover the secret space program.
>>
>>135223346
If we go DEFCON 2, two E-4B Nightwatch and at least four E-6B Mercury will go airborne and disperse (with no transponders on).

Although some idiot at Offutt AFB didn't disperse aircraft in May during a tornado and two Nightwatch were severely damaged so we may only put one in the air.

It's part of NIOC. During the Cold War, we would always have a Nightwatch and two Mercury birds airborne.

Basically it "mirrors" the Pentagon, Cheyenne, and White House in the event of a decapitation strike (hence the "Looking Glass" nickname).

Multiple Nightwatch and Mercury airborne, KC-135s and KC-10s traveling in flights of two, multiple Cargos (C-5, C-17, C-130) heading to the same destination overseas.

If you see a WC-135 Constant Phoenix go to Japan or depart from Japan, it's likely going to sniff the air around North Korea for a nuke test.

Anybody knows how SW radios work?

I have a small set here and if I manage to hear something on some frequency, I try the same frequency on websdr and hear nothing.
>>
>>135226151
good to know.
>>
>>135226459
The Twente WebSDR is in the Netherlands. Your antenna is in Canada.

Think of it like driving from Windsor to Toronto while listening to the radio. Eventually, you lose the station and have to switch to something else.

Most UHF and VHF stations transmit on SW in the range of a few watts. UHF doesn't propagate well beyond a few hundred clicks.

Can I hear skyking message on my radio here?

In fact, is there any fun to have with a SW radio? I feel the one I have is a bit wonky, it never stays on frequency, it jumps back and forward unless the radio is perfectly stable, etc.

I was tempted to buy a new one but I don't know what to do with it.
>>
>>135230365
You can get SDR for cheap,
http://www.rtl-sdr.com/rtl-sdr-quick-start-guide/
It's only to listen though
>>
>>135230365
Buy a 33 meter (100 foot) copper wire antenna and GROUND THE LIVING FUCK OUT OF IT and you will LOVE the shit you can pick up.

Yes, Skykings will come in clearer in Canada than Europe (where this WebSDR is).

If you put an SWR filter between the antenna and receiver you should be able to not get the variance you're having.

It really depends what you want to listen to that makes listening "worthwhile" or not.

Most messages transmitted are just for training purposes and even if they would be some nuclear strike orders we wouldn't now due to one time pad encryption. You can see every transmission has a slight chance of a happening but we would only find out afterwards. That being said the more frequent transmissions are the higher is the chance of some actual happening.
