What is the reason for serialkillers disappearing and the rise of spreekillers?
forensics, aside from making it easier to get caught its large presence in media gives a lot of people the impression that it's impossible to kill someone and get away with it. Also most police precincts didn't know how to deal with or recognize serial killers when they spiked in the 70s.

This anon speaks true.
Like in the Malvo killings, where they had a sniper hidden inside a car with a tiny hole for the scope and muzzle.
Decades ago, that shit would have been near impossible to solve.
Today, they just check all the cars that were in vicinity to each murder, based on automated license plate scanners and surveillance cameras. Like, millions of cars. Life as a serial killer is a lot harder.
