Read Quigley's Anglo-American establishment. The first chapter is just names of people.

I have more pages dog-eared in that book than any other book I've read so far.
The lists like that are included largely because it's an academic documentary work meant to be cited by further research. If you're just in it for the basic rundown, it's pretty safe to just skim those bits in case any of the names or whatever jump out at you.
