Do you favor winner-takes-all elections or the parliamentary system?
Would you prefer a House of Lords or a Council of Ministers?
Which system best represents the people?
None. Dictatorships are best

let's pretend this is the real world though

I'm actually an edgy 29 year old thanks. And Pinochet did a damn good job compared to elected leaders there.

People prefer autocracy over deomcracy.
>>135095682
Why do you even have to ask?

I am in favor of the American system. No bias.
>You vote for a candidate, not a party
>States are largely autonomous
>Counties and cities can get away with almost anything
>Parties need absolute majorities (and often supermajorities) to pass things on their own
>No "coalition" governments giving power to fringe groups
>No party remains in power for long above the local level
Our parties are grade A shithheels. Look at the lengths they have had to go to shit on us.
But for Europe, it was Tuesday.
Checkmate. It's fascism.

Ok, but then Pinochet gets old and dies, and his replacement is a total psychopath. Now what?
Sure wish you had some kind of electoral process to get that guy out of there
>>135097797
The problem with the American system is that winner-takes-all elections mean there can only realistically be 2 parties. This means that the majority of the electoral process takes place within the, internal politics of either party, which are highly autocratic and unfair.
For example, the Democrats shafted Bernie. And under our system, this was totally legal

The only thing worse than two parties is three, the only thing worse than three parties is four.
Yeah, it blows. But under a more European system, the Democrats would have established a dictatorship in the 1930's.
