How was Dunkirk, /pol/?
>>
>>135094177
Great movie, very historically accurate.

it needs to win an Oscar for sound design, best in any war movie i have seen.
>>
>>135094177
Fucking boring I expected more firefights and shit, most movie was just talking nothing interesting, the beginning was really good when they start getting shot and then when they hit the beach and the bombers move in it felt terrifying, after that pure boring talking.
>>
Cabbage crates comin' over the briney?

I'll only go see it if it's got banter.
>>
>>135094177
>How was Dunkirk, /pol/?
Never going to go see it. There is zero chance kike shills will give any historical accuracy to an event where the "evilracistnazi" Hitler told his soldiers to stand down and let the Allies evacuate their men when he could have wiped them out right then and there. Anyone who says otherwise is clearly full of shit. They gave them hours and hours and the left claims the Nazis were "refueling" for all that time. Give me a fucking break.

>No French troops to be seen anywhere
>>
>>135094177

walked out after 40 minutes, too relentlessly grim, felt oppressive and brutalizing

some cool visuals

no narrative or dramatic structure
>>

French troops in multiple scenes and even are notable characters did you even watch the movie?

Nigger it was great your just an autismo who gets set off by loud noises
>>
>>135094942
German tanks waited for the infantry divisions to move up. Mechanized troops were busy in Magna Franca.

That's war. Especially when you are on the loosing side at the time.

>>
>>135094177

If you like Nolan style playing with time structure, you will enjoy film even not giving a fuck about subject.

Subject is despare and reception. There literally no Germans showed in film, except blurred faces in the last 10 seconds, they are existential horror, played by machines and booms. Film's mud is like Stephen King is a writer.

>*redemption

I liked it, they should of showed more Germans though. Should of also said that Hitler didn't want to slaughter the Brits at Dunkirk and allowed them to go as token towards a progress to peace.
>>
What i don't understand is why Hitler called off his ground forced but let the Luftwaffe continue to do it's thing during the evacuation?
IIRC he had 5 panzer division which when they made It to the town besieged it but didn't push into it. Meanwhile the Luftwaffe and the German navy continued to do it's thing to harass the evacuation.

I guess what I'm asking here is why did he half ass it? If he wanted to let them go why did he harass them? And if he wanted to defeat the British and French at Dunkirk why did he halt his ground forces

Legit good. Another home run from Nolan.

Watch it in IMAX if you can.
>>
>>135095951

Luftwaffe and U-Boats were made independent of the Army. Hitler really only had ordered the Army because he felt it was the most important.

>Brits biggest accomplishment in the war was running away
kek
>>
>>135094177
Trust me on this. It's overrated. Very slow very minimalist. Good photography but that's it. The dialogue sounds like poorly recorded English.
The story is all jumbled up and no good characters.
It's a good movie but it's not one of the best war flicks ever.
>>
How can any of you even watch war movies after seeing real life war on the internet?

They're so boring and gay compared to the real thing.

i'd rather spend the entire day on the toilet with wicked mudbutt.

It is an exceptionally good film.

It made two propaganda moves - one was an admiral states Hitler's intentions as being to take over the world. Honestly this felt tacked on like it was mandated by (((Hollywood))). The other was an example of ethnic tribalism. The did not detract from the movie enough to make me not really like it.

I hear it didn't really capture the scale of the situation. There were 300k+ allied soldiers, 800 boats, and I'm told it felt very very small in the movie. Did anyone else feel this way?

This. Where were the funny quips? It's a war movie, not a holocaust documentary.

Literally Brexit the movie

>>
>>135096591
Yes. They showed maybe 20 small boats 5 ships. 10 planes at the most and some where dive bombers for 5 seconds. The beach at the most had 10,000 men in single file lines. Didn't give the scale that other war movies show.

Yeah, the beginning was great - rest of the film was boring.
>>
I enjoyed it, it took balls for a mainstream director to totally abandon plot, character development, and most linearity, I wouldn't have expected for a movie like this to get funding from major studios.
I feel like a lot of people are completely misinterpreting the point of it. It's not a conventional "war movie", where you get the characters' dramatic backstories spoonfed to you and get a clear picture of them doing something. Those can be fine when they're done well (Band of Brothers, SPR) but they've been completely done to death because of how little creativity is required to make a mediocre but profitable one (Fury, American Sniper).
The only thing it was "about" was the people stranded at Dunkirk. People crying because they didn't get an epic Nazi shootout or dramatic scene of Harry Styles dying in his friend's arms completely miss what Nolan was going for. It was depicting abject terror, dread, and hopelessness, not character drama or action. It was trying to impart the feeling of knowing you could get blown up or shot down or drowned at any split second.
I realize it sounds pretentious but the movie was too good for the plebs who wanted some Michael Bay exploitation shit. Any sort of experimentation with structure gets booed as try-hard or boring or gay.

>>
>>135094177
Acting - superb
Cinematography - superb
Story - interlocking, some more interesting than others
There are scenes where the British accent coupled with a jet fighter mask really makes it hard to hear what's being said
Score - atrocious imo. The guy couldn't decide how he wanted you to feel - very attacking on the ears at times
Pacing - fucking slow, there is no strong rising action or battle

I enjoyed the beginning, but started getting bored toward the end. I probably wouldn't ever watch it again

That's...fucking ridiculous. The massive number of men stranded and later saved as well as the huge outpouring of civilian support are all what make the story so incredible. Why would he do that??

You useless seppo cunts needa learn English and learn to appreciate films rather than movies. Every fucking time I see seppoes complaining that something doesn't reach climax in 5 seconds or that they, for fucking once, have to wait for something. Useless cunts the lottaya.

Probably blew the whole budget on the imax cameras. He likes practical effects so he kept the cgi to a minimum. I did like the sound effects though. The flying scenes were badass.
>>
>>135099588

But the movie was slow.
And I couldn't understand the pilots.
And there were a few times where the pilot had the german in his reticle for awhile and never shot. You know, because "drama."

I didn't realize you were so emotionally attached to this film.

Also, while we're learning English, why do some British pronounce it "frou" when it's clearly spelled "through"?
>>
>>135098979
>>"let them evacuate"
>>use luftwaffe to bomb them anyway
We know for a fact Hitler ordered his army to stop. They halted for DAYS.

Now I understand that you're a dumb shit who has lapped up everything you've been fed by the kikes shitting in your food dish since your childhood, but if all German resistance stopped, the evacuation would have been halted and the British troops would have rallied and resumed the attack. Any third grader would understand this, but I know it's far beyond your intellectual capacity.

So RAF was still trying to drive back the Germans. The Luftwaffe had to remain in operation. If Hitler had wanted to kill all those Brits, it would have been trivial. HE CLEARLY LET THEM GO.

And for his kindness, the Allies repaid him by incinerating CIVILIAN TARGETS at Dresden. You must be very proud.

>>
>>135095811
You're right but He didn't allow them to go. The Luftwaffe and Navy were just containing the evacuation.
>>
>>135094177
I watched a shitty Russian cam version, the visuals were great though.
>>
>>135095951
He wanted to trap the british by using the Navy and Luftwaffe. By trapping them there he wanted to use them as a bargaining chip to make a deal with England. The Germans could've slaughtered the brits on that beach.
>muhhh tank repairs
>muhh waiting for infantry
>muhh supply lines
is all bullshit if you actually read what the actual German commanders were communicating to one another while they waited outside of the city.

Because planes - and likewise the navy - are, logistically, very different to ground forces.

Logistically, ground forces are rather like MOBAs: you don't go past the first enemy turret right off the bat.
