I check my own jet ski before and after every ride, I know what should be where, and what it should feel like when it runs. Point is, I am in control of my own machine. But, even with all that, I've had a steering cable snap at full throttle mid turn so the ski could only steer one direction. Heading towards the shore at 55 and feeling a pop and the ski straightening out is not fun.

If the fair has a shit ton of burnt out bulbs, you can bet your ass they're skipping out on other things.

As someone who has worked at both Fair's and Amusement parks. I can safely say

DO NOT FUCKING RIDE THIRD RATE CARNIE RIDES

It takes an amusement park owned by Six Flags or Cedar Fair about 10 months to build, and do tests on.

It takes your average carnie shit shot 2-3 weeks to do this. Not to mention the ride is constantly in motion, being re-assembled and de-assembled, meaning parts go missing. Hell I was once told BY MY STATES FAIR COMMISSION. To use "duct tape" and bolts that didn't even fucking fit the ride to fix a missing bolt because they couldn't find a bolt.

Carnie rides are actual god damn garbage, stick to actually respected amusement parks like Six Flags, Cedar Fair, and Disney parks for your top thrills.

I'm a nursefag and have been for almost 20 years now. It's been 18 years since I've ridden a fair ride. I'd been a nurse for about a year and was working triage in the ER at my hospital. It was county fair time. We had a stumbling drunk woman stagger up to my window beating on it begging to be seen. She was a classic drug addict. Meth teeth and pick marks, tracks, the whole deal.
