Yeah, except this doesn't fucking happen. Trickle down economics has been so thoroughly disproven at this point that there's hardly any point in even discussing it.

http://graphics8.nytimes.com/news/business/0915taxesandeconomy.pdf

There's a study but you really don't even need to read it, because you should just use your common sense: if you want to stimulate the economy, is it better to a. give more money to people who already have more than they know what to do with so they can stash it somewhere and let it collect dust or b. give more money to the people who currently aren't even accruing enough to meet their needs, let alone extra spending money? The working class spends their money when they have it, which leads to equitable growth and an increase in employment to satisfy demand.

Amazing that a goddamn ancom like me has to explain how your own system is supposed to work to you, but that's what 40 years of neoliberal, trickle down voodoo economics propaganda has done to your tiny brain.

Now you're talking about corporate taxes, which is a separate issue, but your point is still nonsense.

For most of the big U.S. corps, their effective tax rate (i.e. the amount they actually pay, not the amount they are supposed to pay) in the U.S. is about as low as anywhere in the world. They aren't moving to foreign countries because of tax rates. They are moving there because labor is cheaper there, and as long as we keep getting neoliberal politicians who push capital-friendly trade agreements rather than labor-friendly ones, that trend will continue, regardless of corporate tax rates.

>liberal
See flag, dumb fuck.
>>
Won't this result in a net gain in taxable revenue since the opportunity to repatriate funds from corporations at a lower rate and the fact that they will actually be paying federal taxes now instead of offshoring/tax loophole nonsense revenue to avoid taxation? Also, rich people don't pay income taxes.
>>
>>135040124
Not really sure how your theory would work. Currently, large corps like GE and Google use offshore tax havens and creative accounting to pay next to zero federal taxes. If the corporate tax is simplified, offshoring is prohibited, and the loopholes are closed, won't a flat lower rate still be better than the next to zero they currently pay? I mean basic math says something is better than zero.
>>
>>135036757
the actual wealthy don't pay income tax or have a relatively low taxable income. Plenty of CEO's take $1 income. They make their money off capital gains and such investments. That's why they can claim "tax me more PLEASE!". They don't suffer from it plus it builds populist cred. Those with high taxable income are those having to reinvest that money into their business or starting a side business while still working for someone else. Taxing them more hurts job creation yet helps the wealthy reduce competition.

Not claiming to be an expert, but maybe if there were a simplified tax code where the rules were actually changed and applied evenly, then there might be a net benefit. Just the elimination of the bureaucracy of actually paying and collecting taxes might be a huge offset. Even the fucking IRS has stated that the information on their OWN FUCKING WEBSITE should not be used for actual tax preparation purposes. "We want your money. Here are the myriad of rules for paying us. The penalty is financial ruin or jail for failure to comply. But don't actually use any of this information, as we don't really know what the fuck were talking about and the amount you owe is directly related to how much you pay your lawyer or accountant"

Ideally, we wouldn't need taxes because the capitalist class would no longer hoard the surplus value of their employees' labor, but I doubt you have any more interest in discussing that at this point than I have in discussing a fairytale Trump who makes it harder on himself to cheat his way outta paying for the public services and subsidies he regularly uses and exploits.

The cost of labor is not dependent on what capitalists choose to pay. It's systemic, meaning it's dependent on what a laborer can produce and if that product has any instrisic value in and of itself.

Capitalist cannot "horde" money, and this shows your ignorance in terms of how finances actually work. Revenue from labor and services flows from the bottom up, not top down. All you need to do is simply look up a 10K to understand that expenses are paid FIRST. Money goes out before it comes in, and in fact, many companies can run on debt and long-term liabilities before ever turning a net profit.

Yeah, I'm even more glad I didn't read now because that claim has been so thoroughly debunked that I needn't spend a single nano-second of my time revisiting it. Basically, these guys are great at picking and choosing when to start the timeline - skipping years ahead, then deleting a year where taxes were raised on the working class, then skipping ahead again, etc. - in order to create the impression that tax cuts magically boost revenues.

Their explanation as to "how" that works is so laughable it doesn't merit a response, but luckily statistics - the full statistics - does a fine job of answering "if" it works anyway. Spoiler alert: it doesn't.

And on and on it goes. If you're a student with access to any kind of archive of scholarly work, I recommend looking up studies in respected journals (i.e. peer-reviewed and not corporate funded), every single one of which will confirm the above links.

We are not talking about useless people like him but in all honesty: If you could take every single cent of tax revenue and give it to people like Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, etc. instead of some useless government agency we would be living in a much better world.

So you're telling me cutting a 100% tax to 90% wouldn't increase revenue?

I didn't offer an explanation on how it works and you haven't provided any indication that you even know what the theory is. All you've said is that it's been debunked and not worth your time to read. Might be true but you've have not convinced me nor, I assume, anyone else.

However, I will read those sources since you've been kind enough to provide them. Maybe they can shed light on what your trying to say.

If you're still around in 40 minutes I'll check back up on responses but for now I have to drive.

100% taxes were designed to force employers to reinvest in their business instead of hoard idle cash that would all get taxed away anyways. And it worked fairly well, again, within the confines of the capitalist system.
