Source is here, as you can see there are small variations between years where growth stalls or even lowers but there's nothing to think that rate would hold.

I'll never understand /pol/ denying climate change. If you honestly believe the world will be better by the mass famines and destruction of countries close to the equator (ie. Brown people), coastal cities (disruption of trade routes) and the landmass gained by northern countries that's fine and completely acceptable but please don't act like a child covering his ears. Accept this position.

Do you fucking morons not understand trends?
Sea levels don't go up in straight lines. They, like everything else can be effected by natural variations. For example El Nino oscillations can cause sea level to decline in some regions, and we had a powerful El Nino in 2015/16. Sea level is still going up and we are still losing ice so where do you think that ice will go?
2017 is less warm than 2016 so does that mean the planet is cooling?

Also, why do you suddenly trust NASA now, and not when they say climate change is real and caused by humans?
Also, if sea level rise isn't fast who cares? Sea level rise is not relevant compared to increased drought, higher chance of strong hurricanes, and greater chance of heatwaves causing crop failure in the short term.
>>
>>135036426
NASA can be co-opted by fashy drumpf supporters, too.
>>
>>135036153
climate change is real but the evidence that it's caused by humans is sketchy at best. Obviously the planet goes through cooling and warming periods, just look at the ice age. To say that we are causing these changes without a doubt is to say that we've know the Earth's cycles like the back of our hand, and we know what is "normal" and what is not. Which is complete BS

>>
>>135036800
what do you think is the more plausible and scientific hypothesis?
a) that the fast increase of temperatures during the last decades is related to the coincident rapid increase in the concentration of well-mixed greenhouse gases like CO2, N2O and CH4 (WELL outside the range of glacial variability) by various human acitivities

or

b) that it's all some kind of natural cycle, which is yet unknown, doesn't seem to show up in the paleoclimate record, but just happens to perfectly explains every observation (by assumption)
>>
>>135037232
>fast increase of temperatures

But they aren't though?
>>
>>135037197
That's only for the sea ice. The melting that causes sea level rise is from land ice (mostly Greenland an Antarctica).

because a LOT of water got frozen onto the land and practically emptied out the oceans. The sea level was low enough that land was exposed between russia and alaska, where the first human migration to america occurred.

This year and last year, potentially also the next couple years. Have been historical cold in the arctic. You will have to go back 50 years or so, to see an ice-cap of similar size.
this is due to a natural pressure system, which had been centered around the artic for the past couple of years.
A lower registeret sea-level for the last two years, would correlate nicely with the periode where the significantly larger than average ice-cap.
this is a normal oscillation and does not contradict that we are in a warming periode.

>Also, why do you suddenly trust NASA now, and not when they say climate change is real and caused by humans?
Because in both cases the bias is against deniers. NASA pushes the climate change narrative but the data they themselves produce contradicts their own narrative. We were told rising sea levels due to the ice melting but according to NASA's own studies it is showing the opposite. Their own data doesn't correlate with their conclusions. It doesn't take a genius to look at that and see it's fucking retarded. Not to mention the number of times they've been caught manipulating data. We have every right to be skeptical especially when money and government is involved.

this whole cycle is beyond the scale that most people can conceive.

remember, this is a naturally occurring cycle that happens a few times before we ever came along as a species. This cycle takes millennia to complete, vastly longer than anyone can predict, define, or possibly control.

anyone claiming that this can be controlled or stopped is beyond arrogant and should be mocked and ridicules.

You don't get it. They have no estimates for it. There's no way to estimate it. They just draw a big, solid line over what was very likely to be dramatic increases and decreases. They can't look at a couple of old fossilized tree rings and say "well, gee, I'm guessing this petrified wood was... like... what? a million years old? 3 rings in, it went through a fire... That means a big fire happened exactly one million and 3 years ago."

The comet smacking into the planet took over a million years to kill off some of the larger fauna (that tended to go extinct after a million years anyway), so if a massive, near-planet-killing meteor doesn't fuck over the environment over a few decades, you'll have a tough time convincing not-retards that a 5% increase in CO2 is collapsing the planet's ecosystem in the next 15 years.

Warmer air has a much greater capacity to hold water vapor. It's in the atmosphere. And that's kind of scary since water vapor in the atmosphere is what makes our weather. More water means more and bigger storms.
>>
>>135032377
There are four states of matter, but only three apply to our biosphere. Liquid, solid and gas make up the three relevant states of matter... So if water is not liquid, then it is either solid (ice) or gas (water vapor/clouds).

However, it is unlikely that such a significant amount of water has been vaporized and retained in our atmosphere. If it was, we would notice a considerably greater volume of clouds... while I'm not ruling it out, it seems likely that a combination between that and the water freezing into solid ice makes the most sense.

Which suggest that the studies and data that are being promoted in regards to climate change and global warming are false.

Everything is proof of global warming. Even global cooling. If CNN is on one TV during the next ice age, they'll blame global warming.

We would literally have to drastically reshape our economy and regress to an agrarian level of development. The toll in lives would be in the billions... We would be a society of no more than five hundred million, living in perpetual balance with nature.

>Why the fuck would they publish data that goes against their fucking 'narrative' you absolute gobshite retard?
Don't ask me retard they literally just did.

>NASA don't need climate change for funding
Still a (((government))) agency. Still get money from the (((government))).

>the current US administration denies climate change.
The current government does not deny climate change they are merely skeptical about it. The new head of the EPA is now allowing open dialogue between affirmers and deniers for the first time ever. The data and logic will speak for itself.

>If Nasa were working for the government they'd be publishing data showing climate change isn't real and caused by humans
Depends on which government they work for. Trump's or (((theirs))).
>If the CIA were working for the government they wouldn't be psyop-ing the country with their propaganda media outlets to undermine him
>If the FBI were working for the government they wouldn't be prolonging a bunk Russia case to save the democrats but instead go after real criminals like Hillary
All depends on the government agency and as of now every one of our institutions have been infiltrated and politicized.

>Also bare in mind this is average sea levels. El Nino variations can cause sea level to fall in some places and rise in others.
None of these has changed significantly.

>b-b-but the ice caps will all melt and there won't be any left
>we'll be flooded once the ice cap melts guys

omg they aren't melting like we predicted? let's do more mental gymnastics and say it will cause more storms (which aren't really disasters if you think about it).

If humans weren't around building big structures, would hurricanes, tornados be destructive other than knocking trees down? Animals can easily run. Even humans can be nomadic and avoid that. But no, we build big structures that can be torn down by hurricanes, tornados and earthquakes then cry about it. People die because they refuse to leave those structures. We build big concrete cities that cannot drain that amount of water that would have been absorbed by the ground. Flooding is caused by clogged storm drains.

Global warming is good. The more ice melts, that's more water that we can export out of the Earth to our Moon and Mars bases. We can even catch the air in the atmosphere to reduce the costs of sending it in space.

This is great news.
