Why is it only the West which is suffering from this?
>Sperm counts in men from America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand have dropped by more than 50 percent in less than 40 years, researchers said on Tuesday.
>They also said the rate of decline is not slowing. Both findings -- in a meta-analysis bringing together various studies -- pointed to a potential decline in male health and fertility.

It's all the mountain dew we've been drinking
Sitting on your ass all day tends to keep the genetalia warmer than usual and reduces sperm count. We're just more modernized

Soy based foods, chronic masturbation, hormones in the water supply, cell phones in pocket near your balls all day
All the more reason for a systematic baby producing system.

You can't avoid natural selection, eventually it will come back to haunt you. And no: this is not an inventation to eugenics, natural selection is more rational and intelligent as homo sapiens.
Think of how the market makes better decisions as a centralized economy is capable of.
There are other things that might come to haunt us, such as - possibly - mutation load; though I do not know enough about that. We are also fucking up our gut flora with inappropriate anti-biotic use and bad nutrition, and this is partly to blame for the obesity epidemic.
If there is a cthulhu you might as well call it nature or natural selection.
