Reminder Iran is oppressing arabs

>the imminent execution of six more ethnic Arab Iranians (Ahwazi Arabs) in Ahwaz, the provincial capital of Khuzestan in south-western Iran - homeland to five million Arabs. The news of their impending executions has been smuggled out of Iran by the men's families and is corroborated the Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), Amnesty International, the Human Rights & Democracy Activists group and by the inadvertent admissions of Khuzestan's prosecutor, Musa Pirbani. The planned executions are the latest in a series of executions of ethnic Arabs by the racist Iranian state. The most recent hangings occurred on 10 September, when three Ahwazi Arab political prisoners were executed. They were put to death just days after the visit to Iran by Louise Arbour, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, in what appeared to be a calculated defiance of the UN's expressed concern regarding the oppression of Ahwazi Arabs.
http://archive.is/cxJKQ

>Six members of Iran’s Ahwazi Arab minority are due to go on trial in Iran on 20 May. The men were detained without charge for almost a year and all were arrested in connection with their activities on behalf of Iran’s Ahwazi Arab minority. It is feared they will not receive a fair trial and may be at risk of torture or other ill-treatmen
http://archive.is/Cgdtx

>The use of Ahwaz for sectarian and Arab nationalist agendas has served to justify repression by Iranian authorities, which say they face a foreign plot to control the country's natural resources. Tehran has accused Britain, Israel.

>Although the bulk of Iran's 137 billion barrel oil reserves lie beneath the soil of Khuzestan, most Ahwazis struggle to scratch a living off the land they lay claim to.

>"We get nothing from the oil and gas fields except smoke (from the refineries)," said activist Taha al-Haidari, in footage filmed secretly in prison before he was executed along with two of his brothers and a friend.

I refuse to believe you are this stupid. Iran/hizbullah uses palestine as a tool for justifying their wilayat faqih expansionism. You brought up 2006 war (which has shit to do with Palestine) moving the discussion a different direction. Worst of all you cant point to anything hizbullah/iran has done against israel since they got bombed to hell in 2006 and the fact that they just take air strikes in the ass from israel without doing shit back

Story on the messed up Syria warmap:
>It became so detailed (read: crowded) that it crashed larger warmaps that included the Syrian warmap (It's why the Syria-Iraq warmap was down for a week)
>They are currently cleaning up the warmap, and have been forced to split it into two modules:

One for the detailed warmap with all the icons to stand by itself
One for use in multi-theater warmaps with the biggest icons and strategic sites(like Aleppo, Al-Bab, Palmyra, Tabqa, and navy ports, airbases, foreign bases, etc)

>The reason for this is to create two Syria warmaps so there would be one standalone Syria warmap with all the detail, and one for use in multi-theater warmaps (like Syria-Iraq, Syria-Iraq-Lebanon, Middle East Warmaps)
>Apparently, there was an error with the Syria warmap that Wikipedia is currently trying to resolve.

I never realized it had gotten so bad...

You're off a bit. The map that's broken is one that you don't even use which covers all of the conflicts in the ME -- Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Syria, Turkey, everything. Some of them are 100% or near-100% occupations by one country.

The split was because the dude who won on SIL functionality wanted to delete even more shit seemingly because the map was just so fucking cluttered.

I'm pretty sure the dude who was doing the decluttering before this is freaking out right now. He's posting on all the other editors' talkpages and he's exhausted his limit of SCW/IS reversions for the next 24 hours on the detailed map.

Reminder that Iran is the real terrorist state:
>1979: Storming the American Embassy and holding 90 people hostage, 52 of them for 444 days.
>1983: Bombing the US Marines barracks in Beirut, killing 241 Americans, and 58 French peacekeepers.
>1984: Bombing the US Embassy Annex in Lebanon, killing 24 people.
>1992: Bombing the Israeli Embassy in Argentina, killing 29 people. 242 people were injured.
>1994: Bombing the IMIA Jewish Center in Buenos Aires, killing 84 people.
>1994: Suspected of bombing the Israeli Embassy in London, killing 20 people.
>1996: Bombing the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, killing 19 US servicemen.
>2005: Suspected of ordering the assassination of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafic Hariri.
>2011: Plot to bomb the Israeli and Saudi Embassies in Washington D.C.
>2012: Attack on an Israeli diplomats in India, leaving multiple wounded.
Only once Iran gets a regime change, can there be peace and stability in the Middle-East.

>Syrian Air Force aids Hezbollah, Lebanese Army in Arsal
BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:55 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) continued their aerial assault over the ‘Arsal Barrens of east Lebanon, Wednesday, striking the jihadist rebels along the Zamarani Road near the Syrian border.

Flying out of the Homs Governorate, the Syrian jets crossed over the border to deliver a large number of airstrikes on the militant positions in the ‘Arsal Barrens.

These airstrikes helped propel the Hezbollah forces in the Wadi Al-Humayd area, while also causing significant damage to Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s main defenses in the region.
With over 90 percent of the ‘Arsal Barrens under Hezbollah and Lebanese Army control, the Syrian Air Force conducted a rare air raid in the Al-Qa’a area of northeast Lebanon, targeting the Islamic State’s positions in the northern part of the Qalamoun Mountains.

Saudi Arabia

While Saudi Arabia is often a secondary source of funds and support for terror movements who can find more motivated and ideologically invested benefactors (e.g. Qatar), Saudi Arabia arguably remains the most prolific sponsor of international Islamist terrorism, allegedly supporting groups as disparate as the Afghanistan Taliban, Al Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Al-Nusra Front.[106]

Saudi Arabia is said to be the world's largest source of funds and promoter of Salafist jihadism,[107] which forms the ideological basis of terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda, Taliban, ISIS and others. In a December 2009 diplomatic cable to U.S. State Department staff (made public in the diplomatic cable leaks the following year), U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton urged U.S. diplomats to increase efforts to block money from Gulf Arab states from going to terrorists in Pakistan and Afghanistan, writing that ""Donors in Saudi Arabia constitute the most significant source of funding to Sunni terrorist groups worldwide" and that "More needs to be done since Saudi Arabia remains a critical financial support base for al-Qaida, the Taliban, LeT and other terrorist groups."[45] An August 2009 State Department cable also said that the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, which carried out the 2008 Mumbai attacks, used a Saudi-based front company to fund its activities in 2005.[45][45][108]

The violence in Afghanistan and Pakistan is partly bankrolled by wealthy, conservative donors across the Arabian Sea whose governments do little to stop them.[45] Three other Arab countries which are listed as sources of militant money are Qatar, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates, all neighbors of Saudi Arabia.[45][46]

>Iran promises to respond to any US violation of the nuclear deal
BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:20 P.M.) – Iran will respond to any U.S. violation of the nuclear deal, a senior Iranian official said on Wednesday, as quoted by IRNA.

“The U.S. measure by Congress and the new law against Iran, Russia and North Korea is clearly a hostile action which Iran will respond to, no doubt,’ Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi told reporters on the sidelines of a national cyber crime congress in Tehran.

The US House of Representatives overwhelmingly voted for a bill of new sanctions against Russia, Iran and North Korea on Tuesday.
“We have frequently seen such hostile steps by the US Congress and administrations, and this is not specific to the current or former administrations,” he added.

The new US administration had to verify Iran’s commitment to the nuclear agreement twice in the past six months, since seven reports of the International Atomic Energy Agency have verified Iran’s loyalty.

The US bill which will be sent to the Senate to be approved requires to be signed by the US President Donald Trump to become legislation.

According to two studies published in 2007 (one by Mohammed Hafez of the University of Missouri in Kansas City and the other by Robert Pape of the University of Chicago), most of suicide bombers in Iraq are Saudis.[109][110][111]

Fifteen of the 19 hijackers of the four airliners who were responsible for 9/11 originated from Saudi Arabia, two from the United Arab Emirates, one from Egypt, and one from Lebanon.[112] Osama bin Laden was born and educated in Saudi Arabia.

Starting in the mid-1970s the Islamic resurgence was funded by an abundance of money from Saudi Arabian oil exports.[113] The tens of billions of dollars in "petro-Islam" largess obtained from the recently heightened price of oil funded an estimated "90% of the expenses of the entire faith."[114]

Throughout the Sunni Muslim world, religious institutions for people both young and old, from children's maddrassas to high-level scholarships received Saudi funding,[115] "books, scholarships, fellowships, and mosques" (for example, "more than 1500 mosques were built and paid for with money obtained from public Saudi funds over the last 50 years"),[116] along with training in the Kingdom for the preachers and teachers who went on to teach and work at these universities, schools, mosques, etc.[117] The funding was also used to reward journalists and academics who followed the Saudis' strict interpretation of Islam; and satellite campuses were built around Egypt for Al Azhar, the world's oldest and most influential Islamic university.[118]

The interpretation of Islam promoted by this funding was the strict, conservative Saudi-based Wahhabism or Salafism. In its harshest form it preached that Muslims should not only "always oppose" infidels "in every way", but "hate them for their religion ... for Allah's sake", that democracy "is responsible for all the horrible wars of the 20th century", that Shia and other non-Wahhabi Muslims were "infidels", etc.[119] According to former Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew, while this effort has by no means converted all, or even most, Muslims to the Wahhabist interpretation of Islam, it has done much to overwhelm more moderate local interpretations of Islam in Southeast Asia, and to pitch the Saudi-interpretation of Islam as the "gold standard" of religion in minds of Muslims across the globe.[120]

Patrick Cockburn accused Saudi Arabia of supporting extremist Islamist groups in the Syrian Civil War, writing: "In Syria, in early 2015, it supported the creation of the Army of Conquest, primarily made up of the al-Qaeda affiliate the al-Nusra Front and the ideologically similar Ahrar al-Sham, which won a series of victories against the Syrian Army in Idlib province."[121]

In 2014, former Prime Minister of Iraq Nouri al-Maliki stated that Saudi Arabia and Qatar started the civil wars in Iraq and Syria, and incited and encouraged terrorist movements, like ISIS and al-Qaeda, supporting them politically and in the media, with money and by buying weapons for them. Saudi Arabia denied the accusations which were criticised by the country, the Carnegie Middle East Center and the Royal United Services Institute.[128][129]

One of the leaked Podesta emails from August 2014, addressed to John Podesta, identifies Saudi Arabia and Qatar as providing "clandestine," "financial and logistic" aid to ISIL and other "radical Sunni groups." The email outlines a plan of action against ISIL, and urges putting pressure on Saudi Arabia and Qatar to end their alleged support for the group.[130][131][132][133] Whether the email was originally written by Hillary Clinton, her advisor Sidney Blumenthal, or another person is unclear.[134][135]

Following the 2017 Tehran attacks, Iranian authorities such as members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Javad Zarif, have accused Saudi Arabia of being behind the attacks.[136][137] In a Twitter post, Zarif wrote, "Terror-sponsoring despots threaten to bring the fight to our homeland. Proxies attack what their masters despise most: the seat of democracy". His statements referred to the Saudi deputy crown prince Mohammad bin Salman's threats against the country about a month earlier, in which bin Salman revealed their policy to drag the regional conflict into Iranian borders.[136][137][138] Adel al-Jubeir, Saudi Arabia's foreign minister, denied his country's involvement in the attacks and said Riyadh had no knowledge of who was responsible for them.[139] He condemned the terrorist attacks and "the killing of the innocent anywhere it occurs."[139]

Al-Qaeda (/ælˈkaJdə/ or /ˌælkɑːˈiːdə/; Arabic: القاعدة al-qāʿidah, Arabic: [ælqɑːʕJdɐ], translation: "The Base", "The Foundation" or "The Fundament" and alternatively spelled al-Qaida, al-Qæda and sometimes al-Qa'ida) is a militant Sunni Islamist multi-national organization founded in 1988[27] by Osama bin Laden, Abdullah Azzam,[28] and several other Arab volunteers who fought against the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in the 1980s.[29][30][31]

Al-Qaeda operates as a network made up of Islamic extremist, Salafist jihadists. It has been designated as a terrorist group by the United Nations Security Council, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the European Union, the United States, Russia, India, and various other countries (see below). Al-Qaeda has mounted attacks on civilian and military targets in various countries, including the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings, the September 11 attacks, and the 2002 Bali bombings. The U.S. government responded to the September 11 attacks by launching the "War on Terror". With the loss of key leaders, culminating in the death of Osama bin Laden, al-Qaeda's operations have devolved from actions that were controlled from the top down, to actions by associated groups and lone-wolf operators. Characteristic techniques employed by al-Qaeda include suicide attacks and the simultaneous bombing of different targets.[32] Activities ascribed to it may involve members of the movement who have made a pledge of loyalty to bin Laden, or the much more numerous "al-Qaeda-linked" individuals who have undergone training in one of its camps in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq or Sudan.[33] Al-Qaeda ideologues envision a complete break from all foreign influences in Muslim countries, and the creation of a new caliphate ruling over the entire Muslim world.[5][34][35]

Among the beliefs ascribed to al-Qaeda members is the conviction that a Christian–Jewish alliance is conspiring to destroy Islam.[36] As Salafist jihadists, they believe that the killing of non-combatants is religiously sanctioned, but they ignore any aspect of religious scripture which might be interpreted as forbidding the murder of non-combatants and internecine fighting.[1][37] Al-Qaeda also opposes what it regards as man-made laws, and wants to replace them with a strict form of sharia law.[38]

Al-Qaeda has carried out many attacks on targets it considers kafir.[39] Al-Qaeda is also responsible for instigating sectarian violence among Muslims.[40] Al-Qaeda leaders regard liberal Muslims, Shias, Sufis and other sects as heretics and have attacked their mosques and gatherings.[41] Examples of sectarian attacks include the Yazidi community bombings, the Sadr City bombings, the Ashoura massacre and the April 2007 Baghdad bombings.[42]

Since the death of bin Laden in 2011, the group has been led by the Egyptian Ayman al-Zawahiri.

Organization

Al-Qaeda's philosophy has been described as "centralization of decision and decentralization of execution."[43] It is thought that al-Qaeda's leadership, after the War on Terror, has "become geographically isolated," leading to the "emergence of decentralized leadership" of regionalized al-Qaeda groups.[44][45]

Many terrorism experts do not believe that the global jihadist movement is driven at every level by al-Qaeda's leadership. Although bin Laden still held considerable ideological sway over some Muslim extremists before his death, experts argue that al-Qaeda has fragmented over the years into a variety of regional movements that have little connection with one another. Marc Sageman, a psychiatrist and former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer, said that al-Qaeda is now just a "loose label for a movement that seems to target the west. There is no umbrella organisation. We like to create a mythical entity called [al-Qaeda] in our minds, but that is not the reality we are dealing with."[46]

This view mirrors the account given by Osama bin Laden in his October 2001 interview with Tayseer Allouni:
... this matter isn't about any specific person and... is not about the al-Qa'idah Organization. We are the children of an Islamic Nation, with Prophet Muhammad as its leader, our Lord is one... and all the true believers [mu'mineen] are brothers. So the situation isn't like the West portrays it, that there is an 'organization' with a specific name (such as 'al-Qa'idah') and so on. That particular name is very old. It was born without any intention from us. Brother Abu Ubaida... created a military base to train the young men to fight against the vicious, arrogant, brutal, terrorizing Soviet empire... So this place was called 'The Base' ['Al-Qa'idah'], as in a training base, so this name grew and became. We aren't separated from this nation. We are the children of a nation, and we are an inseparable part of it, and from those public *** which spread from the far east, from the Philippines, to Indonesia, to Malaysia, to India, to Pakistan, reaching Mauritania... and so we discuss the conscience of this nation.[47]

Leadership
Al-Zawahiri and Bin Laden in 2001 interview with Hamid Mir in Kabul
Osama bi Laden (1987 - May 2011)

Osama bin Laden was the most historically notable emir, or commander, and Senior Operations Chief of al-Qaeda prior to his assassination on May 1, 2011 by US forces. Atiyah Abd al-Rahman was alleged to be second in command prior to his death on August 22, 2011.[52]

Bin Laden was advised by a Shura Council, which consists of senior al-Qaeda members, estimated by Western officials to consist of 20–30 people.

Ayman al-Zawahiri, al-Qaeda's Deputy Operations Chief prior to bin Laden's death, assumed the role of commander, according to an announcement by al-Qaeda on June 16, 2011. He replaced Saif al-Adel, who had served as interim commander.[53]

On June 5, 2012, Pakistan intelligence officials announced that al-Rahman's alleged successor Abu Yahya al-Libi had been killed in Pakistan.[54]

Nasir al-Wuhayshi was said to have become second in command in 2013. He was the leader of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), until he was killed in a U.S. airstrike in June 2015.[55]

Al-Qaeda's network was built from scratch as a conspiratorial network that draws on leaders of all its regional nodes "as and when necessary to serve as an integral part of its high command."[56]

Here's a quick rundown
>>
>>135023730
Command structure

Al-Qaeda is not operationally managed by Ayman al-Zawahiri. Operational groups consult with the leadership in situations where attacks are in preparation (The Wilson Centre 2015). [61]

When asked about the possibility of al-Qaeda's connection to the July 7, 2005 London bombings in 2005, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair said: "Al-Qaeda is not an organization. Al-Qaeda is a way of working... but this has the hallmark of that approach... al-Qaeda clearly has the ability to provide training... to provide expertise... and I think that is what has occurred here."[62]

On August 13, 2005, however, The Independent newspaper, quoting police and MI5 investigations, reported that the July 7 bombers had acted independently of an al-Qaeda terror mastermind someplace abroad.[63]

What exactly al-Qaeda is, or was, remains in dispute. Certainly, it has been obliged to evolve and adapt in the aftermath of 9/11 and the launch of the 'war on terror'.

Nasser al-Bahri, who was Osama bin Laden's bodyguard for four years in the run-up to 9/11 gives a highly detailed description of how the group functioned at that time in his memoir.[64] He describes its formal administrative structure and vast arsenal, as well as day-to-day life as a member.

However, author and journalist Adam Curtis argues that the idea of al-Qaeda as a formal organization is primarily an American invention. Curtis contends the name "al-Qaeda" was first brought to the attention of the public in the 2001 trial of bin Laden and the four men accused of the 1998 US embassy bombings in East Africa:

The reality was that bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri had become the focus of a loose association of disillusioned Islamist militants who were attracted by the new strategy. But there was no organization. These were militants who mostly planned their own operations and looked to bin Laden for funding and assistance. He was not their commander. There is also no evidence that bin Laden used the term "al-Qaeda" to refer to the name of a group until after September 11 attacks, when he realized that this was the term the Americans had given it.[65]

>>135023857
As a matter of law, the US Department of Justice needed to show that bin Laden was the leader of a criminal organization in order to charge him in absentia under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, also known as the RICO statutes. The name of the organization and details of its structure were provided in the testimony of Jamal al-Fadl, who said he was a founding member of the group and a former employee of bin Laden.[66] Questions about the reliability of al-Fadl's testimony have been raised by a number of sources because of his history of dishonesty, and because he was delivering it as part of a plea bargain agreement after being convicted of conspiring to attack U.S. military establishments.[67][68] Sam Schmidt, one of his defense lawyers, said:

There were selective portions of al-Fadl's testimony that I believe was false, to help support the picture that he helped the Americans join together. I think he lied in a number of specific testimony about a unified image of what this organization was. It made al-Qaeda the new Mafia or the new Communists. It made them identifiable as a group and therefore made it easier to prosecute any person associated with al-Qaeda for any acts or statements made by bin Laden.[65]

Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir interviewing al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan, in 1997

The number of individuals in the group who have undergone proper military training, and are capable of commanding insurgent forces, is largely unknown. Documents captured in the raid on bin Laden compound in 2011, show that the core al-Qaeda membership in 2002 was 170.[69] In 2006, it was estimated that al-Qaeda had several thousand commanders embedded in 40 different countries.[70] As of 2009, it was believed that no more than 200–300 members were still active commanders.[71]

According to the award-winning 2004 BBC documentary The Power of Nightmares, al-Qaeda was so weakly linked together that it was hard to say it existed apart from bin Laden and a small clique of close associates. The lack of any significant numbers of convicted al-Qaeda members, despite a large number of arrests on terrorism charges, was cited by the documentary as a reason to doubt whether a widespread entity that met the description of al-Qaeda existed.[72]

Insurgent forces

According to author Robert Cassidy, al-Qaeda controls two separate forces deployed alongside insurgents in Iraq and Pakistan. The first, numbering in the tens of thousands, was "organized, trained, and equipped as insurgent combat forces" in the Soviet-Afghan war.[70] It was made up primarily of foreign mujahideen from Saudi Arabia and Yemen. Many went on to fight in Bosnia and Somalia for global jihad. Another group, approximately 10,000 strong, live in Western states and have received rudimentary combat training.[70]

Other analysts have described al-Qaeda's rank and file as being "predominantly Arab," in its first years of operation, and now also includes "other peoples" as of 2007.[73] It has been estimated that 62% of al-Qaeda members have university education.[74]

Financing

Some financing for al-Qaeda in the 1990s came from the personal wealth of Osama bin Laden.[75] Other sources of income in 2001 included the heroin trade and donations from supporters in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and other Islamic Gulf states.[75] A WikiLeaks released memo from the United States Secretary of State sent in 2009 asserted that the primary source of funding of Sunni terrorist groups worldwide was Saudi Arabia.[76]

Among the first pieces of evidence of Saudi Arabia’s conspicuous support for al-Qaeda was the so-called "Golden Chain", a list of early al-Qaeda funders seized during a 2002 raid at the premises of the Benevolence International Foundation (BIF) in Sarajevo by Bosnian police.[77] The hand-written list, validated by al-Qaeda defector Jamal al-Fadl, included the names of both donors and beneficiaries.[77][78] Osama bin-Laden’s name appeared seven times among the beneficiaries, while 20 Saudi and Gulf-based businessmen and politicians were listed among the donors.[77] Besides Osama bin Laden, among the most notable Saudi recipients were Adel Batterjee (founder of BIF and designated as a terror financier by the U.S. Department of the Treasury in 2004) and Wael Hamza Julaidan (U.S.-terrorist designated in 2002 as one of al-Qaeda’s founder).[77]
>>

The most prominent Saudi figures among the donors included Saudi billionaire Saleh Kamel (CEO of Dallah Al-Baraka, accused of funding and supporting al-Qaeda operations), Sulaiman Abdul Aziz Al Rajhi (funder of SAAR Foundation, shut down within the framework of Operation Green Quest, and CEO of al-Rajhi Bank, investigated several times by U.S. authorities for its role in financing terrorism and al-Qaeda especially), and Ahmad Turki Yamani (son of former Saudi chief of Justice and former Saudi Minister of Petroleum).[77][79] Saleh Kamel’s case in particular reinforces Saudi Arabia’s role as sponsor of al-Qaeda. For years, Omar al-Bayoumi, an associate of Khalid Almihdhar and Nawaf Alhazmi, two 9/11 highjackers, received a stipend from al-Baraka, the financial group kamel directed.[77] Kamel invested for several years in a Sudanese bank that held accounts under the names of senior al-Qaeda affiliates.[77][80] According to the Wall Street Journal, the Jidda-based al-Baraka Bank, one of the biggest subsidiaries of the financial group, was also suspected of providing banking services to al-Qaeda operatives.[79] In general, the documents seized during the 2002 Bosnia raid pointed out that al-Qaeda widely exploited charities to channel financial and material support to its operatives across the globe.[81] This was the case, for instance, with the International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO) and the Muslim World League (MWL). The former had solid ties with al-Qaeda associates worldwide, including al-Qaeda’s deputy Ayman al Zawahiri’s brother working for IIRO in Albania who had actively recruited on behalf of al-Qaeda and involved several Egyptian Islamic Jihad members in IIRO activities.[82] The latter was openly identified by al-Qaeda’s leader as one of the three charities al-Qaeda primarily relied upon for funding sources.[82]

Qatar has provided financial support to al-Qaeda as well. On December 18, 2013 the U.S. Treasury designated Abd Al-Rahman al-Nuaimi, a Qatari citizen close to the al-Thani family and a human rights activist who founded the Swiss-based NGO Alkarama, as a global terrorist for his activities in support to al-Qaeda.[83] The U.S. Treasury claimed that Nuaimi, currently enjoying impunity in Qatar, "has facilitated significant financial support to al-Qa'ida in Iraq, and served as an interlocutor between al-Qa'ida in Iraq leaders and Qatar-based donors."[83]

Nuaimi was also accused of overseeing a $2 million monthly transfer to al-Qaeda in Iraq for a period of time as part of his role as mediator between Iraq-based al-Qaeda senior officers and Qatari citizens.[83][84] He also allegedly entertained relationships with Abu-Khalid al-Suri, al-Qaeda’s top envoy in Syria, who processed a $600,000 transfer to al-Qaeda in 2013.[83][84] Moreover, Nuaimi is known to be associated with Abd al-Wahhab Muhammad 'Abd al-Rahman al-Humayqani, a Yemeni politician and founding member of Alkarama listed as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) by the U.S. Treasury in 2013.[85] The U.S. authorities claimed that Humayqani exploited his role in Alkarama to fundraise on behalf of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP).[83][85] A prominent figure among AQAP ranks, he was also reported to have facilitated the flow of funding to AQAP affiliates based in Yemen. Nuaimi was accused of investing funds in the charity directed by Humayqani to ultimately fund AQAP.[83] About ten months after being sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury, Nuaimi was also restrained from doing business in the UK.[86]

Another Qatari citizen, Kalifa Mohammed Turki Subayi, was sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury on June 5, 2008 for his activities as a “Gulf-based al-Qaeda financier.” Subayi’s name was added to the UN Security Council’s Sanctions List in 2008 upon charges of providing financial and material support to al-Qaeda senior leadership.[84][87] Subayi allegedly moved al-Qaeda recruits to South Asia-based training camps.[84][87] He also supported financially Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, a Pakistani national and senior al-Qaeda officer who is believed to be the mastermind behind the September 11 attack according to the 9/11 Commission Report.[88] Besides the activities of key facilitators, Qatar’s financial support to al-Qaeda has been channeled through Qatar’s largest NGO, the Qatar Charitable Society currently known as Qatar Charity. Al-Qaeda defector al-Fadl, who was also a former member of Qatar Charity, testified in court that Abdullah Mohammed Yusef, who served as Qatar Charity’s director, was affiliated to al-Qaeda and simultaneously to the National Islamic Front, a political group that gave al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden harbor in Sudan in the early 1990s.[78]

Legal proceedings from the trial "United States vs. Enaam M. Arnaout" also mentioned that Qatar Charity was cited by Bin Laden in 1993 as one of the charities used to channel financial support to al-Qaeda operatives overseas.[89] The same documents also report Bin Laden’s complaint that the failed assassination attempt of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak had compromised the ability of the terrorist organization to exploit charities to support terrorist operative to the extent it was capable of it before 1995.[89] Qatar Charity’s track record of terror financing includes support to al-Qaeda terrorists in Chechnya, an accusation publicly denied by Hamad bin Nasser al-Thani. In 1999 Qatar Charity supposedly funneled money to Chechnya-based al-Qaeda affiliates.[90] Furthermore, Qatar Charity is among the NGOs allegedly channelling funds to Ansar Dine in North Mali, a piece of information confirmed by French military intelligence reports dating back to France’s intervention in the country in early 2013.[90][91] The terrorist group has long been suspected of having ties with al-Qaeda.

Today, Qatar’s enduring financing of al-Qaeda’s enterprises mostly benefits al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria Jabhat al-Nusra and is channeled primarily through kidnapping for ransom.[92] The Consortium Against Terrorist Finance (CATF) reported that the Gulf country has thus funded al-Nusra since 2013.[92] Al-Awsat estimated that Qatar disbursed $25 million in support of al-Nusra through kidnapping for ransom.[93] In addition to this strategy, Qatar has also launched fundraising campaigns on behalf of al-Nusra. The Washington Post reporter Joby Warrick wrote in December 2013 that al-Nusra acknowledged a Qatar-sponsored campaign ("Madid [sic] Ahl al-Sham") "as one of the preferred conduits for donations intended for the group."[94][95]

>Breaking: Hezbollah launches attack on Al-Qaeda’s last positions in Arsal
BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:30 P.M.) – Hezbollah has begun their assault on Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s last positions in the ‘Arsal Barrens tonight, following several hours of nonstop shelling and airstrikes.

The Hezbollah units stormed the Wadi Humayd area of the ‘Arsal Barrens tonight, hitting the enemy defenses with a powerful attack that is meant to force HTS to withdraw from the hilltops they occupy nearby.

Once the hilltops are secured by Hezbollah, they will have fire control over the area, which means Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham will either have to negotiate a surrender or fight to the death in the ‘Arsal Barrens.

Meanwhile, north of ‘Arsal, the Lebanese Army has setup new military posts in the Qa’a Barrens, as they prepare to launch their long-awaited offensive to clear the northwestern portion of the Qalamoun Mountains.

>Saudi regime forces attack besieged Shiite neighborhood in Qatif
BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:40 P.M.) – The Saudi regime forces stormed the predominately Shiite neighborhood of Al-Awamiya, Wednesday, firing indiscriminate artillery shells and missiles towards the civilian areas.

As a result of this attack in the Qatif Province of Saudi Arabia, at least one local and one foreign worker were killed by the Saudi regime forces on Wednesday morning.

In addition to killing two people and wounding several others, the Saudi regime forces also arbitrarily arrested many civilians in the Al-Awamiya Neighborhood, sparking outrage among the community.
The Saudi regime forces have besieged the Al-Awamiya Neighborhood for more than two months now, subjecting several thousand people to constant violence and random arrests.

Meanwhile, Israel has shown its concern over the Russian actions in the area.

Earlier Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said that Israel opposes a ceasefire agreement between the US and Russia that has alloed to esbalish safe zones in southern Syria. Netanyahu added that Israel will not tolerate Iranian or Hezbolalh presence in the border area.

In other words, Tel Aviv once again showed that it was not interested in any kind of cessation of hostilities that may lead to a stabilization of the situation in Syria.

They've destroyed nearly all industry the country had. They are barely capable to repair their vehichles or even to make work ones that were taken from old soviet warehouses in a conservated state. They started production of their own mortars called Molot "Hammer" and tried to make it look like a huge victory and basicaly Ukraine is number one industrial powerhouse on the Planet. However it turned out that Molot is basically a remake of WWII soviet mortar, they are badly made, fall apart even before shooting, and most likely to explode while shooting. What is more they are produced in minimal quantities.
The joke answer to this is that industries have basically no budget, heavily inderstaffed and have very low motivation to work. All this is thanks to the oligarchs who basically control anything that can cost money and they sell everything thsi is not atteched to the floor not caring to actualy start a production or make viable industry.
Woke answer: This is the result of ongoing process of Decommunisation. Everybody knows that socialism and evil and you can only be free after you wash its previous sins. That's including everything that was made by commies. Starting with monuments and industries. The next step is houses, roads and electricity. Only after the las communist-made powerstation and pice of asfalt will be turned to dust the Ukrain canmake it into the ranks of developped and free western nations.

>In pictures: ISIS drones score direct hits on Syrian Army positions in Deir Ezzor
BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:15 P.M.) – ISIS media has released pictures of the terrorist group employing armed drones against positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the western part of Deir Ezzor city.

As the images presented below show, the armed drones used by ISIS target two netted field positions in a small compound area, scoring direct hits on both, igniting flammable materials and forcing SAA troops to flee the area.

Al-Masdar News cannot verify if any Syrian troops were injured or killed in the attack but it is obvious that the two targeted positions were destroyed.
It has been around a year now since ISIS started using armed drones to bomb opposing forces. The entire design is basically a large commercially-produced drone type outfitted with a custom grip-release which delivers a small mortar round.

Although a rather primitive form of airpower to use in battle considering that there is no proper aiming device and that the dropped munition is uncontrolled in flight (with no way to compensate for factors such as wind-speed effect other than a good guess on part of the operator), the armed drones used by ISIS nonetheless serve to be ideal harassment weapons at the very least and do – techinically – offer the terrorist group its own combat aviation.

Looks like Wikipedia has started 'decluttering' the Syria Warmap, starting with removing icons from the minimaps of Aleppo, Damascus, Raqqa, DeZ.
>Why am I bringing this up?
This affects the production of my Shitmaps. They are literally overhauling the Syria warmap, so updated and accurate Shitmaps will have to wait.

They're used for breaching, playing with explosives and CQC mostly. You shoot at a bunch of wood and brick/concrete walls at close range and shit starts flying. Better not get any of it in your eyes.
You won't be seeing anyone wear them outside without reason.
