How about after White moves first, the black side gets two moves to compensate for its natural shortcomings. Also, if the "black king" becomes checkmated, it gets probation and redo its last 2 moves.

Maybe to further compensate, if the "black queen" makes it to the other side of the board, it can pop out 4 pawns anywhere on the board.

Bishop maybe equal or a little more valuable than knight in openings to middlegames, but knights become remarkably more valuable at endgames (relative to each other of course).

Bishops are fucking useless, just take one of them out and move your king to the coloured square opposite of the bishop and it will become basically useless in the "final kill" moment before you win the game

Horses at the end trap kings and if you have played right, your castles will help you win
Moving your castles and queen out last is the best way to go

i've been playing chess since age 5, and i learned it because i played with people wanting to teach me. then i went to russian chess school to improve, done few city competitors pretty well (but not turbo brilliant). but at age 10 my parents didn't want me to continue chess since i was becoming more and more antisocial. and somehow i am grateful they made that decision.

now i play it for fun in the park competing against old folks, while being surrounded by even more old folks. it is whole spectacle i find funny.
