In fact, with HOI4 they've been selectively grouping their DLC's together in such a way that you have to pay a lot for the smallest of content. Don't play the Commonwealth nations but want to get that spearhead order (something that should have been in the base game)? Well you're gonna have to pay for the entire DLC. This is despite Paradox previously splitting up their DLC so that you only had to pay for what you wanted.

Paradox is getting less redpilled by the day, pretty soon they'll start to piss off their core audience of imperialistic map painters. I mean they already made the Ottomans the "beginner" country in EU4, it used to be Portugal.

The big features are that provinces no longer have "development" (tax/production/manpower) but population (rural/urban/upper class) and everything works around it.
Centers of Trades are no longer fixed, they're dynamic and move wherever the most trade power is. Centers of Production/Arts also exist and function just like I described above.

Basically the game becomes much more a country-building one and less a map-painting one.

Countering big blobs with another big blob is like sending a nuke to intercept another nuke.
Whole issue would be solved if some system of supply was created so a state couldn't devote all its resources to a single front, WW2 style. Also, more internal strife and more opportunistic AI and bam, every Paradox game has been just made 10 times better.

There is plenty of internal strife if you have the expansions. Problem is that blobs can easily counter the strife (because if they couldn't, they wouldn't be blobs in the first place)
