Wow, where are you been and when? It's seems like 20 years ago. I'm not particulary apologetic person, we are not Denmark in any metric. But when I look at village when my grandmother is from, see big, pretty houses and 20 years ago half of people there lived in wooden shacks.

I visited around 6 years ago, but I doubt there's been THAT many changes. Warsaw was nice, but every european capital is, then we went south to krakow, and we were on a bus. We went through a bunch of little towns, and took a lot of detours to see the place. From Warsaw to Krakow, it took 2 days. The little towns basically had one nice street in the middle, and the backstreets were dumps. The more you left these cities, the roads turned to dirt, and peasants started appearing.

The more you walked, you realised that the peasants lived in shanty towns, with houses made of actual dirt, with rusty tin roofs, doghouses with chained dogs that are constantly barking, gypsy caravans, SO many drunk people in the middle of the street asking for cigarettes, prostitutes on main roads, etc.

My trip was Warsaw > krakow > Poznan > Berlin
