Not really. Opiates fuck up your values i.e. after a while what feels good or bad is totally skewed. You have to remember how common surgeries, chronic pain and depression are too. Ths happened to my best friend when we were about 22. He hurt his back badly at work. Was prescribed 80mg oxy contin which helped him but within a few weeks he was hooked. The first person I've know who did heroin was my mother. She was on it before I was born and I'm fortunate enough for her to have stopped using it during her pregnancy with me. It caused a lot of trouble for my father and I during my younger years, but she eventually was able to go sober. She had to move in with family in another state to beat it. She was in rehab and stuff when I was younger, and I would go visit her, but she wasn't ever able to kick the addiction in her own.

Now, I'm losing my two best friends to it. One is farther gone than the other, and has recently relapsed. We don't talk like we used to. I used to really cherish the time I spent with him. My other friend is just now getting into it. It's only a matter of time before he becomes too distant as well.

The weird thing is, is from what I've heard, my mother had a harder upbringing than my friends. She grew up poor from what I was told. My true d's are both from the suburbs, and one of them even has a nice house and car. Although they both still live with their mothers (we'll all be 21 by the end of the year).

How does anyone even end up on this stuff? I want my friends back god dammit.

It's a giant myth that H is cheaper than pain pills. A 30 mg oxycodone pill (the holy Grail for most pill heads) goes from anywhere between 20-30 dollars a piece on the street. One bag of smack costs around 20 dollars. One bag = one hit. A gram of H here goes for 150 dollars. Maybe back in the day H was cheap, but these dealers now know that we'll off white people NEED this drug to get by every day, so the price has gone way up. Supply and demand.

I grew up in a 90% white suburb and years back lots of people were popping pills. Some got clean, a few died, and others moved on to heroin.
