Then again, I wonder if this has to do with how rich the companies are. If a company makes more money, it isn't necessarily going to massively bump up wages for jobs that don't earn too much, I would think.

commies can't into economies of scale. these CEOs are running companies so large that if they distributed his income over all employees, it would be pennies per year. the ceo of yum foods, which owns taco bell, kfc, etc. was compensated $20,000,000 in 2013, which sounds like a lot, until you realize that's less than a penny per hour per store.

Welcome to markets and the magic of driving a percentage based return on a fixed large amount of assets. In a fictional scenario where some guy can get a 15% annual return on $1 billion with a 100% chance of success, how much do you pay him while keeping in mind there are other people out there with $1 billion looking to get a return of their own. That's your starting point, but as you add more realism to the scenario you start to see why these people command the valuations that they do.

CEO pay is usually tied to stock bonuses (options) and US stocks and US listed companies have massively higher valuations than non-US ones.

The US capital markets are pretty much the only ones that matter, due to America's massive accumulated wealth over the decades.

This is not a very difficult concept to understand, you just have to have been employed pretty much at least once during your career. Of course most "academics" and "intellectuals" do not meet this criterion.

Should also show the amount they earn as well... I mean sure, in the US a CEO might earn WAY more, but you also get paid WAY more than the other countries..sooo...the real CEO's are most of the time in US, and they rake in the $$$ of those multi-billion companies. Deal with it.

I think that giving people the freedom to make themselves rich is important, but at the same time some corporations just have too much money.
A corporation with enough power is just as bad as any shitty government.

I don't know if this is even remotely a good fix, but having a cap on the amount of money you could make would be one solution.
The cap would have to be really high, though, to the point where it would only affect the people at the very very top.
>>
>>134799111

>be 50 bil valuation corp
>hire excellent ceo and senior management for 25mil/year
>grow 0.1%/year extra due to good management

or

>be 50 bil valuation corp
>hire MBA from mediocre school as CEO, run senior management through workers council
>lose 5% of value in 10 years
>i.e. lose 250 million per year

Why are people such bitter cunts? Those CEOs are mostly in their late 40s+, working insane hours, extremely stress resilient, extremely driven, with insane responsibilities. Their income and consumption is taxed, a good chunk taken through estate taxes, and the remainder squandered within a couple generations.

BUT IF I CANT HAVE NICE THINGS THEN NO ONE ELSE SHOULD HAVE THEM!!11!!

What do you mean by "stop working"?

Because then you would still have to work to make that money cap every year.
Or do you mean that you would stop working to make more money?
I think that might be a good thing.
>>
Now correct me if I'm wrong here, but shouldn't the size of the United States have something to do with our paygap? I mean we have more land to put in more businesses so it would mean we'd have more CEOs.

With every other people in the history of the world, LAND - actual territory - has been the fundamental on which the people's existence has depended. You cannot imagine a France, an England, an Egypt, a United States, a China, a Japan, an Italy, a Sweden or any other nation without land from which the nation earns its living and which, in a spiritual sense IS the nation.
Yet there is one nation, which has lived for almost two thousand years WITHOUT a foot of soil on which to earn a living - the Jewish nation. How low did they do it?
The answer is that the Jews have always used other PEOPLE as other people used LAND.

George Lincoln Rockwell

Always the Jew arrives, as in America, as a tattered "refugee" and is welcomed and assisted by kindly host peoples. The Jew then begins his usual climb up the back of the host people, using any and all methods, even cooperation with his murderous Marxist brothers, until finally the Jews are "exceedingly mighty" and "abundant" in the land, and the host people are paying huge taxes and fees to the Jews to live in their own lands. The Jews sooner or later smash the economy entirely, and wind up owning the very land, making wage-slaves out of the masses of the people, while they slyly ingratiate themselves with the last few non-Jews with power and money.
Ask yourself: did the Egyptians unfairly "persecute" the Jews?
According to the Jews' own account of things in Genesis and Exodus, the Egyptians did absolutely nothing against Joseph and the Jews. Quite the opposite, the Egyptians made Joseph "ruler over all Egypt," and gave his great multitude of fellow Jews the "best" land in Egypt, free cattle, free grain, and endless advantages. The Egyptians couldn't possibly have done more for Joseph and the Jews.
In return, when the Egyptians are hungry and starving because of a terrible drought, there is no "sweet charity" from these Jews. No. Joseph demands first all their money, ruins their economy, then grabs all their cattle, and finally all their land itself!!!
While he gives the Jews the "fat of the land," he moves the native people off the land into cities where they are beggars, and then "permits" them back on their own land as sharecroppers, at 20% profit.
Would you tolerate a guest, to whom you gave the best room in your home, who took all your money, all your furniture and finally your home itself, all because you came upon hard times and would you then let your "guest" move you back into your own basement as janitor while he lives like a king without working?

Average CEO in the US makes $164,000 per year. Google it. So, the average CEO makes about 12 times minimum wage. Average WORKER in the US makes about $50,000 a year. So, the average CEO makes a little more than 3 times the average wage. Leftists make me laugh, they assume that just because they are too stupid to do any research, they assume we are just as stupid.

The world is not a zero sum game. Wealth is created, its an addition to the economy. For super rich people to have nice things, such as yachts, they have to pay whole companies who pay employees to build them. It's not as if they are stealing yachts and keeping them from others, in fact buying a yacht adds to the value of the economy and the prosperity of the little man.

In all things that a man can be better than a man are measurable things. Such as height, speed, iq, strength etc.

But when it comes to income there is no natural barrier. No man is really 1000000000x better than any other man in any measurable thing. Other than in capitalism can this difference occur.

Income inequality is a meme that needs to end. The left has this idea that wealth is a fixed, finite quantity - this is going back to 16th century economics (Mercantilism). Wealth is infinite, but it needs to be created out of something.

Consider the structure of the economy, 1 represents an arbitrary amount of wealth, and 1% for example means that 1% own that amount of wealth in the economy:

111111111 (1%)
1111 (9%)
11 (55%)
1 (35%)

The left's solution to this "problem" is:

1111
1111
1111
1111

although in reality it's more like
1
1
1
1

The real solution is this:

11111111111111111111111111 (1%)
11111111111 (9%)
111111 (55%)
1111 (35%)

Everyone is wealthier, and you've avoided the moral and practical complications of stealing from people. Who gives a shit that the top 1% has proportionally become wealthier - everyone has become wealthier so why does it matter? It matters because people are envious of those who have provided society with a valuable service and thus earned more money. Fuck those jealous cunts.

Except that's not what happens under capitalism. Much like how you will notice in monopoly, the people with the most capital have the ability to create the most profit. Overtime, wealth flows from the poorest up the pyramid towards to top. THIS IS WHAT NATURALLY HAPPENS UNDER CAPITALISM. Capitalism is wealth redistribution because wealth flows from the poorest to the richest, in this case in an irrational matter. It's a huge bug that is inherent to the system. This effects everyone because the level of wealth inequality directly shows how much wealth has been siphoned off the working class.

Except the vast majority of labor isn't physical, and people in CEO positions tend to be in good shape because they can afford the best in personal training, personal chefs, and lifestyle management. They also tend to work a LOT of hours- the average CEO is putting in 60-80 hours a week. Finally, the CEO is smart enough to figure out how to do the job of a peon, but not vice versa. Running a multinational corporation requires business acumen that most people lack. Where to build new locations, what labor markets are favorable, where to focus research and development, what trends are upcoming- these are all up to the CEO to make the final decision on. You don't leave that to pimply-faced Billy the cashier from store 537.

And fuck, look at my field of medicine- I've learned how to do everything, from the most basic of tasks like wound care and putting in catheters and IVs, to pharmacology, to surgical procedures, differential diagnosis etc etc. Not everyone can do it. Fuck, the nurse practitioners and physician assistants I work with are always coming to me because they're hitting the walls of both their knowledge and their ability to search for the correct answers (because without a foundation you don't even know what to look for in medicine). The average worker can't replace me. Nor can they run the business side of things, which is complicated as fuck in private practice and no one wants to do except those of us motivated enough to do so.

It's not voluntary because they are threatened with starvation if they don't sell their labor. Much like in Feudal times. Here is an infographic. An absence of choice isn't a choice at all.

>This paper challenges the widely accepted stylized fact that chief executive officers (CEOs) in the United States are paid significantly more than their foreign counterparts. Using CEO pay data across fourteen countries with mandated pay disclosures, we show that the U.S. pay premium is economically modest and primarily reflects the performance-based pay demanded by institutional shareholders and independent boards. Indeed, we find no significant difference in either level of CEO pay or the use of equity-based pay between U.S. and non-U.S. firms exposed to international and U.S. capital, product, and labor markets. We also show that U.S. and non-U.S. CEO pay has largely converged in the 2000s.

>random choice or personal whim.
Exactly, that implies a man made system, rather, capitalism is the natural occurring state of competition without forceful coercion.

You cannot threaten someone with starvation. Not saving someone is not the same as killing someone first of all, second of all, workers have several choices. They can voluntarily start commie-companies, they can farm land, etc. In a capitalist society there is no central authority dictating how you can and cannot make ends meet.

My solution is to remove the capitalist class and have worker cooperatives. All the workers profit without a capitalist skimming profit from the workers.
Is that a yes? You're going to forcefully remove workers ability to take fixed salaries? You do realize that in the midst of liberating the working class you're removing the most stable and risk-free way for them to make a living, then only one that low-intelligence people can consistently live off of? Actually take some time and think about how a society like this will function, and you should arrive at the conclusion that it cannot.

Also, your entire political system is based on the fallacy that voluntary interactions can be oppressive, and that salaries are theft, even if it is in the best interest of the workers to receive salaries.

Commies often use the statistics only for Fortune 500 CEOs to make the gap seem larger. It's a clever trick but it'd be easy to expose if OP wasn't a nigger faggot who doesn't source his data.

I've basically got the choice of working for someone else (which gives me a shot at up to 26 weeks off a year with a 7 on/7 off or 14 on/14 off schedule) or working for myself, which gives me unlimited days off. Why are you so cucked, Britain?

I will never defend that bullshit, American CEos and their government lackeys are all liars and thieves that will face karma whether they care to believe it or not. In the real world these fucks would have starved years ago, it's only their old money and bullshit systems that keep it together but it's tearing at the seams and the silent majority will respond in unison eventually.

>The highest amount of wealth that you can have is when you literally own all the wealth of the world and the rest own nothing.
that's literally impossible, which is why people can try to attain that their entire lives if they want. nobody is being enslaved. workers will move to other companies if you don't pay them enough. and ceo's don't just sit back and let the company run itself. they actually have to work constantly if they want to keep their competition from destroying them.

>>
>>134820657
Show me anywhere on this picture where the word "ratio" appears you arrogant cocksucker.
>>
>>134809463
well that's not quite how taxes work. if the income tax was 90% for anyone who made $500,000 or more that year, then every dollar you made after 500,000 would be taxed at 90%. so there isn't much incentive to work hard after you've earned your $500k, but there's still some incentive.

if you redistribute the money to the lower brackets the cost of goods will rise to offset it

a CEO making 1000x as much as a factory worker doesn't eat 1000x as much food

Envy is a sin. Stop being concerned with what others make, and instead be concerned about what you make.
>>
>>134821263
Yes and I know gap implies difference, not ratio.
>>
>>134821479
There needs to be a sizable difference in order to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, but to what extent is the question.
>>
Wealth increasingly shifted to top of executive class in USA and first world. Less wealth available to working people makes family formation more difficult. First world birth rate goes down. Import rapefugees to keep up population and labor price down. Profit.
>>
>>134811656
Because that is against the law
>>
>>134821233
But that's still some incentive to keep working. If you've got a corporation that can pay you 500,000 or 1,000,000 but you'll only get to keep 50,000 of the 500k over 500k you earn, you're still going to take it versus taking nothing. 50k is 50k. A hard cap means you get NOTHING for extra work. While 90% will deter a lot of people, the ones that want real wealth will continue building wealth, because if they need to earn a billion dollars to make ten million, well fuck, they'll earn a billion. But the other major thing you're skipping out on is TAX EXEMPTIONS AND DEDUCTIONS, which are kind of a big deal. While the effective tax rate may have been 90%, most people paid waaaay less, just as the wealthy currently pay way less than the normal tax rate now.

>>134821723
Gluttony is also a sin, so is pride.
>>
>>134799111
This chart is stupid because it is using averages when medians should be used. A few IPOs and hedge fund managers will completely skew the results.

This chart is trying to sell you the idea that the typical CEO makes $17.5M per year (844*10/hr*2080 hours/year).

This just isn't reality.

OK, but you know that wealth is less useful when you are wealthier. I don't know about morally right or wrong, but probably he'll be mentally ill. You know, like a hoarder.

Anyways, there's nothing wrong with making as much money as possible for yourself, at the end you will be spending more money on welfare and shit.

But... why should he get a penny per hour per store? He doesn't work that much more, he's not that much smarter, etc. Surely you could find a really smart guy to run the company for a million a year, or even 500k.
