Attention all Germans, Vernederlanders and Frenchies. I have a question for you:
Smith (2007) argues that a global culture cannot replace national culture as national identity has been reshaped by ‘culturally diverse waves’ of migrants leading citizens to reconsider their views of national identity. Ultimately only reinforcing its function and meaning.
May history record that Anthony Smith was correct in this assessment as that is exactly what the citizens of Great Britain and the United States of America did. Why did the same movement fail in Germany, Netherlands and France?

The German and Dutch people all live with the second world war and the holocaust in their collective consciousness.
This, along with the swayed culture and propaganda, left most average people thinking very badly of anything that remotely resembles the nationalist movement of the nazi's, even loving your country is seen as some backwards thing.

Well my friend, these people exist. It's just that before 2016, they were all a silent part of the political landscape, thanks to (((the media))) and (((regressive left))) school of thought snowballing further to the left end of the spectrum.
However, just like more countries in the West, right-wing conservatism is on the rise, essentially waking up the right-wing mind of the people.
