As a male nurse I have a nice steady income of close to $80,000 a year and because I have my BSN I can always pivot to different types of nursing and make more if I'm willing. I have job security and can go anywhere in the country at the drop of a hat if I wish . My two sisters and my mother are all registered nurses. Excellent money and benefits and its nice working 12 hour shifts and hanging out with them when they have multiple days off in a row.

Nothing wrong with becoming a nurse. You will be paid 60% what doctors will on average, and you won't come out with twice the debt and you will be earning a good 3-4 years earlier.

You can progress into a nurse practitioner, you can study further, if you're good you can eventually sit for MCATs and start becoming a doctor while actually earning and having decent experience.

Unless you are incredibly gifted (unlike many of the medicine students today) you're probably better off becoming a nurse first, specializing, and then becoming a doctor. You will make more money over time and be a better doctor.

I used to work at the Mayo clinic in Rochester. Made about $30/hr first year. It's definitely not glorious. You see how stupid people are on an hourly basis and how horrible luck some people have.

As a male you will be called on every code and every lift. Which blows. These 100 lb women see a 6'1" 200lb man and expect you to lift 400-600 lbs of flesh, dead or alive. Really annoying.

I worked for Bupa in the UK as an assistant and it's certainly a job that broadens your mind.
I worked with the elderly, and you see them die pretty often, and most of the time the hospital does nothing to prevent it because keeping them alive is often a cost.
However seeing diabetes old men with bones coming out their flesh, people with testicles cancer the size of a baseball ball and having to treat all these people made me numb to suffering and disgusting stuff, sometimes you had to lift a guy with a small crane and shit would fall down from him because you were basically shaking his bowels, and it made me realize lots of things about life:

Im a CNA working at a hospital planning on going to nursing school this fall

Yes its mostly women but if you're good at your job you dont really have the time to chat with them and get sucked into the gossip. Im not available anymore but any man getting into the field to fuck nurses is not a bad idea, especially since its easy to jump up the dominance hierarchy and fuck pretty much whoever you want. If you stay a nurse and dont go back to school to specialize you can stay a nurse and get a dope job in a helicopter or stay and join the administration and double your pay. Also, the hours are fantastic. My schedule is three twelve hour shifts on and four off with virtually unlimited overtime if I want. Its also the only job I've found where you practice science along with helping people directly for anyone who is both science minded and people minded. Its also very respectable to society at large. They also make way more than they should, a starting nurse makes thirty an hour at a hospital and, at least at my hospital, you get a dollar and a half raise a year, up to fifty bucks an hour (overtime is usually double time, a hundred bucks an hour sometimes just to sit with a nineteen year old girl who tried to kill herself while you dick around on your phone all day.) Also, my insurance is top notch and if you make friends with the PA or docs you can always ask "does this look bad to you?" and always get a straight answer without having to pay or get the bullshit answer most docs are legally required to give.

Yes, theres peepee poopoo but you can just have your aid take care of it if you really cant stand it, but you will quickly lose their respect and they (we) suffer fools gladly. Just like any job you get use to it, peepeepoopoo doesnt even register on my gross out meter at all, its just part of my job. You get in and get out.

1. Doctors in hospitals rarely see their patients. You interact maybe once per day for a half hour, and the time you spend is charged to the patient in 15-30 minute blocks. I've seen one attending crying because the dear old woman he was speaking to about her cancer asked him one too many questions and he had to bill her more for a 30 minute visit instead of 15 when they spoke for 17.5 minutes.

2. The security just isn't there. The road to becoming an M.D. Attending is a 4 year bachelor's degree,then pass the MCAT, which purposely requires a vastly higher score for whites and asians than blacks, then 4 years of Medical School, THEN 3-7 YEARS of residency in which you really aren't making a ton of money and you can expect to be on call for 24 hour shifts. I've been working around nurses for a number of years now. There is definitely cattiness and bitchiness here and there but most of them are pretty cool and don't cause any problems.

I understand the man in that picture. you see, he was probably a former Army Medic or Hospital Corpsman, serving with the Marines, you learn a lot of nursing skills in that MOS/NEC so it seems logical to move your career to nursing, since a lot of your practical experience becomes applicable college credits towards pre nursing.

Going to school and all it's all fine, it's only upon graduation that you realize you've made a terrible mistake. As a corpsman I worked with a former corpsman who became a civilian nurse, and he always complained about it.

As a male, you are in much higher demand and can ick and choose your cases. Get into home health care and you are on easy street. Basically paid to sit in a comfy room unsupervised with complete freedom while a vegetable on a ventilator just lays there oblivious. I do comics and animation while on the clock and also trade stocks, research things, pay bills, make appointments. There is only about 2 hrs of actual 'work' in a 10 hour shift. Well I used to screw with my own MISTER nurse when I had to take a whiz quiz for work, where there is nothing to steal and in my state niggers get a waiver on piss tests and I'm not joking either. I wish I had proof but I do not.

I did a B.Sc, and like many in my major med school was something we considered, but 3 years into my degree I realized that there are entire fields related to the medical one that are very promising and that do not require extensive schooling.

CNAs clean up piss and shit, LPNs typically handle medication, though an RN can also do medication. Male CNAs tend to do more moving of patients or stuff that requires strength. Male RNs and LPNs are usually 500x easier to work with than their female counterparts. Most of the CNAs I've worked with have been male niggers, and they are by far the laziest, dumbest, most useless individuals I have ever met. There's a few good ones, but it's like a 12-1 shitty-hardworking ratio. Still, people are hiring the shit out of male CNAs, it's a decent field to start out in.
