Lived at a frat for a semester. Was the GA there. Basically I did all their paper work for free tuition and rent.

Most were cool. They never partied at the house at least that semester. I honestly didn't see many of them around.

Some houses have more of a history of parties than other. I was at one of the more tame ones. They mostly played basketball a lot and went clubbing. I talked to some of the brothers. They said the big drug going around frats now-a-days was cocaine. Used to be pot. But they said since everyone was starting pot in high school, they did coke in college. In my parents day a lot drunk beer in high school, and then smoked weed in college.

anyway, I don't think frats are neccesarily a bad thing. You're guaranteed to find brothers who are almost always right leaning in political ideology, so if that's what you're looking for go for it.

My pledge class was a mix of protestant, menonite, catholic, Jewish, black, Hispanic, white, upper class, working class, conservative, libertarian, progressive...every day people. Nearly all of us became great friends, still talk every day, and have good to great jobs. A fraternity is what you make of it. It'll be full of cucks if you are cucks. Was in one. Easy way to set up your social calendar and be able to focus on school and always have shit to do on the weekends. Was basically mon - thurs study, thurs fri and sat night get hammered. Then pool parties and stuff on weekends (I went to a school where it's hot year round).

Also gave you easy access to buying drugs as well as made it a hell of a lot easier to get laid with all of the mixers with sororities.

I was thinking along the lines of "fraternité" and "frères" which is the neutral way to say brother and sister hood and borther and sister if referring to a group of males and females.

My school had three frats and while friendly with all three (I was a non-threatening beta hanger on), the amount of drama and bullshit I saw was enough to make me glad I never tried to rush.

On the surface, all three frats were OK with each other but on the downlow they were all a bunch of petty backstabbing bitches wanting to be the top Chad.

The three frats could be classified as smart Chads (Frat A), party guy/fags (Frat B), and jock/college Illuminati (Frat C)..

Frat A was always the bottom bitches. Frat B and C were constantly at war over shit, but Frat C always won. Mainly cause Frat C had alumni in key positions (teachers, administration, coaching) that allowed them to basically run the school.

My junior year, there was a big scandal where Frat B and Frat C ran candidates for President of student council and Frat C outright STOLE the election. Frat B candidate tried to object but got outright threatened by several teachers and administration, that they'd destroy him if he didn't concede.

Second of all, Frat C controlled the student affairs office, meaning when they did shit like contests or game show/trivia night where students could win cash, only members of the frat got invited on stage to compete/win cash. I attended like 3 of these game show nights our college held before I realized how rigged it was and ended up excusing myself to use the rest room and never returning/attended another one.

I never called them out on it, because like I said, Frat C controlled everything and they considered me a harmless beta and I didn't want to die socially on that hill.

Frat B was their bitch but made up for it by having a lot of parties and shit, which let them have money to throw around. In particular, Frat B always threw huge orgy-like parties the night before Homecoming that were open to everyone. Frat C was forever jealous and by the time I graduated, they were beginning to pull the SJW "Women are being harassed" card to try and get the frat shut down.

Things between Frat B and C got so bad, Frat B had some guys beat the shit out of Frat C's VP one Homecoming morning. Frat B's people got expelled and I remember taking a lot of heat (but not getting shunned) because I refused to take a side.

I never joined a frat because I was in ROTC. My roomate and many of my friends were in various frats. All of them were pretty shy and virgins when they started and all of them ended up banging high quality women (Delta Gamma, Tri-Delts, etc).

None of these faggots understand OP. I went to a top 20 school and was in a fraternity. You don't have to do any gay shit whatsoever to get in, just hard labor and inconvenient shit for a semester. After, you're in- but like anything in life, this is only the first fucking step. You gotta tap into ANY and EVERY resource you can in a fraternity to make the most of it. At the end of the 4 years you should have multiple job offerings in cushy jobs if you did it right. Make friends, do stupid shit, fuck loose sluts, and don't let a single thing you do leave the fucking house. Connect with alumni and don't listen to any of the Jew shit college courses and GDI's tell you. Nod and look like you are playing the part while on campus but remember to connect with alumni. Lastly, do something big each summer like an internship or project where you are a leader. Do this and you'll set you're life for easy mode with great access to resources in the future. I think some have the potential to be great and your dues go to a lot of fun activities that you wouldn't do otherwise. Clubs have small dues, too, so I wouldn't say you're paying for friends by being in a club. It's just about whether or not the dues are worth it. Being in a good frat or sorority can help set you up later on in your career, because the brotherhood lasts forever with any other brother (or sister) who's ever been in the same frat. Mine was very casual (co-ed business so more like a club) with small dues that went towards chapter fees, parties, activities, and trips.

Actually I too went to a top twenty. My boyfriend worked in the legal department and brought home photocopies of a court case against the university brought by one of the fraternity initiates at our school. His "loins" were burned (third degree) after he was held over a fire and forced to recite passages from leviticus and soddom and gomorrah (while naked and tied up... yeah). The weird part? His father AND grandfather were there. They threw him in a tent (no pun intended) and put him on pain killers for the weekend (both were doctors). When he returned home, the kids mother rushed him to the ER, where he had emergency surgery. She also divorced her husband and launched a court case against the school. Which they won. Big time. The frat was kicked off campus for like ever.
