Also, somebody post the actual guy in the pajamas with the coffee please.
It's not a big secret that christcuks are hypocrites.
It's time for another slide thread. I don't think so.

this was a very popular talking point during the election.
"Donald Trump is playing right into the hands of ISIS."
Like ISIS had some master plan to get the worlds largest military to drop bombs on them.

1984 is about nationalism though
>>134704664
It's about authoritarianism even the author is a socialist with anarchistic views.
>>134704833
>It's about authoritarianism
The two aren't mutually exclusive
>even the author is a socialist with anarchistic views
Only seems more likely he would shit on nationalism then.

You haven't read the book have you? It's a critique of Stalin's regime.
>>134704996
Nationalism is used quite a bit in the government rhetoric, they are constantly at war for example (though the target is irrelevant).
>>134705032
>Stalin never used nationalist propaganda
hmm...
>>134705221
true, but does that mean the book is about nationalism or rather uses nationalism and the idea of waring nations as an example of population control?
>>134705221
Of course there is nationalism but the goverment is quite clearly some of communist regime where the market is entirely controlled by them and the proles receive equal amounts of food for their work. The party is called IgnSoc too.
>>134705409
If it is used as part of the story it would be asinine to say "it's not about nationalism" if it contains those themes, even if they aren't the central theme.
>>134705516
I have no idea on what basis you assert that a communist regime can't be nationalistic? In a sense communism is more nationalistic than capitalism.
>>134704664
It's about a hypothetical totalitarian society taken to the most extreme. Nationalist societies can technical veer in that direction by becoming more authoritarian but not nearly to the degree of full totalitarianism. USSR, North Korea, and Mao's China are the closest we have gotten to totalitarian extremes.

>1984 is about nationalism though
Three options:
You're a moron.
You're trolling.
You're a moron and trolling.

lol it's you!

Not necessarily for example Trotsky was a firm believer in internationalism and world revolution while Stalin held the idea of socialism in one state.

:)

that's where "if you bomb isis they win" came from
>>134706417
Are you retarded? I have been trying to explain that Orwell was a social anarchist and he was very strongly opposed to the authoritarian USSR especially under Stalin. Also nationalism didn't exist in the normal sense of the word under Stalin for example I couldn't fly the russian flag if I was a russian.
