The friend request thing is obviously for them to have a glance at your profile to make sure you're not an antifa goon. If they gave the location out before being able to see who they were giving it to, thats cause a lot of problems.
Their vetting obviously worked because they sent antifa to the wrong location and were able to go on with their meeting.
