You're fine. Translations are excellent quality these days as long as they are literal, done by people without agendas and you understand the cultural context (so usually study notes to accompany). Nothing beats getting to the earliest source materials and studying them directly though. Latin and ancient Greek are excellent for study (although Greek has changed a lot even in the ancient world). I will have my children learn to read write and speak Latin and koine Greek fluently. Everything else is pretty niche and unnecessary

The real explanation for this:
liberals are so convinced that they are right and good, that people with other opinions can only be evil. Even if trucks driven by their pet-immigrants mow down little kids, they still think that their actions are good and intelligent and everyone else is dumb and evil.
>>
I feel like I know quite a bit about certain topics I'm passionate about, like the US Civil War and the Italian Renaissance. Firstly Keynesian economics is complete meme communist economics and is just propaganda to brainwash idiots. Austrian school is excellent however it is very macro so not that useful for businesses.

Stop reading meme economists who get paid by (((universities))) and governments. Start reading the writings of actual investors who have made money like Ben graham and buffet. They will tell you that history is crucial in predicting the future and their 15% to 20% compound annual growth rate supports them

Lend lease (50% of lend lease was supplied by Britain) accounted for 2% of total Soviet industrial production.

The weapons supplied by Lend lease (all of them vastly inferior to the ones produced by USSR) only reached the front after Stalingrad, and the fate of the war was already decided after Stalingrad.

Sure, Americans helped, but saying that USSR won thanks to USA is just retarded

>Nikita Khrushchev, having served as a military commissar and intermediary between Stalin and his generals during the war, addressed directly the significance of Lend-lease aid in his memoirs:

>"I would like to express my candid opinion about Stalin’s views on whether the Red Army and the Soviet Union could have coped with Nazi Germany and survived the war without aid from the United States and Britain. First, I would like to tell about some remarks Stalin made and repeated several times when we were “discussing freely” among ourselves. He stated bluntly that if the United States had not helped us, we would not have won the war. If we had had to fight Nazi Germany one on one, we could not have stood up against Germany’s pressure, and we would have lost the war. No one ever discussed this subject officially, and I don’t think Stalin left any written evidence of his opinion, but I will state here that several times in conversations with me he noted that these were the actual circumstances. He never made a special point of holding a conversation on the subject, but when we were engaged in some kind of relaxed conversation, going over international questions of the past and present, and when we would return to the subject of the path we had traveled during the war, that is what he said. When I listened to his remarks, I was fully in agreement with him, and today I am even more so.[30]"

If you're in a more rural state with a state run public law school you'll be making a very comfortable salary for cheap, right out of college. If you're in the northeast and are rich/good at bullshitting an app enough to go to a top 10 school, you'll be making high six figures right out of college no question.
Careful about trying to make it in major urban areas with a low tier law degree, though. That's a bad time.
t. good friend went to a shitty law school, can't find a job
>>
>>134646521
The degree racket is unmerciful. The only subjects worth paying for are the ones that teach you how to use expensive equipment you will never own. You paid someone thousands of dollars to come up with a reading list for you.
>>
I would expect what he's saying to be true but then again this this an open forum where literally anyone with internet access can post.
Go figure a 13 year old might be less educated than someone who studied in college for 4 years.
I myself graduated college with good grades and my knowledge on history was not very deep even after graduating.
One thing pol has going for it is that it has a much wider lense to look through and does not throw gender and racial differences out the window or denounce them as wrong think
This is an advantage that even the 13 year old who spouts merchant memes has over a college educated liberal.

All I'm trying to say is that is was a team effort. The Soviets would have collapsed without help, and if we had tried to fight the Germans without help, I doubt we would have been able to pierce Fortress Europa and make a D-Day landing at all. I doubt the Germans would have been able to make a landing on us, either.
>>
>>134649430
You're talking weapons only. Logistics wins wars. The USA with its automotive plants and private contracts (thanks capitalism!) had the best trucks in the world. That is what kept the Soviets afloat: Studebaker, GMC and Dodge vehicles. Lend Lease was also just a filler for a few months while the Soviets repacked their factories. A filler, but an important key filler.

That said WW2 is noob history.

I know more about civics and economics. There's really no limit to political views, and they usually only teach one side of history, but civics and economics are straightforward, black and white, and easy for my autistic brain to understand.

If you don't care about identity politics, it's easy to win at life. I'm a healthcare exec and I'm against the ACA, but it pays my six-figure salary, so I shut my mouth in public. when people talk about politics, you just smile and ask them to elaborate on their opinion. They tend to think you agree with them if you don't say anything.

This. They're failing to mention that all of USSR's top grade aviation fuel was provided by the US, as was half of their TNT material and other resources like steel. They also relied entirely on the US for communications in the latter half of the war. 20% of their entire airforce was American aircraft. Studebaker trucks were used to mount the rockets for the Katyusha. And tanks like the T-34 would never have been created if not for the Christie suspension.
The US carried the commies to victory, unfortunate as that is.

To parrot what liberals learn in college about history. I know that sounds very anti-intellectual but let me explain.

The standard liberal spiel you get in university is, one has to admit, erudite and developed. They may be shitty leftist professors circlejerking but they are professors. You read lots of source material and end up with a well-crafted narrative in your head, with a nice seal of authenticity from the university on "your" new perspective.

So they come here and they see us flinging shit in the agora and go "ha! Simpletons! This discourse is clearly not of the same caliber as what I learned from, so the resulting perspective is obviously not as valuable either. Good day to you!" and sit and bask in their feeling of superiority.

High school drop out here that went to college. Read more history books by age 12 than entire enrolled student population of my university, and easy to tell. Once had professor tell class, King Harold was a Scotsman. Ecclesiastical History of English People, The Anglo Saxon Chronicle, two of my favorite books. Needless to say, this professor attempted to google his way out of my great stand against modern liberal education, but he ultimately had to settle for a slice of humble pie. My works on Western governments Balkanization, of North Africa, and the Mid-East, pre-date any other. If my mind, is any indication, of the intellectual prowess of /pol/ then the pseudo intellectuals, of academia are mere fan-fiction-frauds.

he was based when it came to niggers though. Lincoln was a truly pro-white individual as evidenced by his debate with Douglas:

>“I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races – that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality.

>And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race.”

I have a BioChem and Marketing double major, and had no problem getting a high paying job in medical sales. Sucks to be you anon.

History is a hobby, you can be an expert by just reading a lot and traveling. Would never pay for that shit at a university... history was essentially a blowoff class for me since it is just simple memory work.

You could be a lawyer, but you seem too retarded for that. Especially if you think you have to college to be good at history

Med student that graduated from an Ivy league university with a STEM degree. Minored in sociology and public health. Took a couple courses on fundamentalism and mythology for fun.

You end up learning world history & politics beyond the US if you study anything dealing with other cultures. /pol/s userbase is older on average than most boards. There's clearly a greater interest in military history and economics that attracted people here before 2014.

Ask any person you meet whether or not they have read, from start to finish, the history of Rome?
From the kingdom to the fall of Constantinople.
If the answer is no then I know a fuckload more history than them.

When there's a topic being discussed that I don't know much about, I'll do a few hours of reading and educate myself. It's not hard.

Although we all mindlessly shitpost sometimes, this is 4chan after all, not the Skull and Bones.

Don't bother. The humanities are fucking dead.

Merely asking them what 'Byzantium' was would give a no-response with most people, yet without them, we would likely be muslims.
They held the hoards off for hundreds of years, before we stabbed them in the back and left them for dead, and barely anyone has ever heard of them...

Why one would use the phrase "educated on history" rather than "know history"? I feel that the "educated on" means "has the (((right))) opinion on".

Remember anon, just an undergrad doesn't cut it anymore-- unless you want to be a public school teacher. Also, remember that there'll always be a demand for good lawyers, because (unless we have a happening of apocalyptic proportions) there's always gonna be laws, and people breaking them. Best of luck.
