I copied it from an app extension. When I first used it I got some weird warning from google about using unapproved chrome extensions. When i turned it off, and tried ctrl+v'ing the text from it, I'd occasionally have to solve captchas before they'd allow me to search.
Shouldve screen capped it, I know. But try it yourself, I bet it'll happen to you.

It happened with me and GRIS several times, the truth is that it is actually bot behavior you're expressing, and there's no way for them to tell you apart from bots when you use that long-ass advanced search string to look for something really specific

eh it's not about "banning", restricting them behind captchas is a leaky patch to a problem, not really a solution. Google is pushing chrome browser identification of clients hard because it's their one way to tell apart bots and humans with a pretty decent rate of success. Sucks for privacy, but it's a trade-off they're more than welcoming because they're doing NOTHING with all the data they're getting, and most of it is just to tell you apart from automatic scripts, and inherently useless to anyone.
The useful information they can sell they already get from you in other ways, from other services, so they don't really need your search history outside of telling you apart from johnny-5

duckduckgo and similar have the same problem of bot-search, they're inherently filtered out as "unwanted" much like bing was when google found out, they're quietly getting shittier and shittier results because the system thinks someone launching seven hundred research per minute MUST BE a bot. Some search results are also automatically blocked from appearing in those search, not by google itself but by the system they put in place to fight bot search spam.

Yes I have noticed this. It's either got especially bad or I reached my tipping point.
I just add "forum" to my search, no fancy advanced search and it works just fine. I'll no longer read normal websites for information because it's all just text diarrhea and affiliate links, nothing of any substance.

I like Bing. MS really shot themselves in the foot with Bing in Europe, they hadn't got the localisation settings outside the US figured out yet but they decided to get a little brand awareness out there anyway by rebranding MSN search as Bing. For example: look for a paper on arxiv using "arxiv [paper title]". Google: first link is the paper, next few links are discussion threads (reddit and others) about the paper, next few links are unrelated. Bing?
