The problem is that "news" outlets like CNN and NPR say there's a problem, and many people uncritically get their "facts" from these outlets. Naturally the "defense" industry doesn't have a problem with this, because they need an "enemy" to keep raking in billions (or trillions?) from the taxpayers.
