Actually, no. The invasion never fails simply because in July 1940, the UK had virtually no defenses whatsoever. They started to prepare for the invasion only then and were 100% certain it would come. You can read the government records of the time. Most of the post-invasion defense plan looked at halting the advance after the German bridgehead was established.
