Protect yourself anons. why are you using windows and not using VPN's?
the browsers chrome and edge are not your friends, why aren't you using tor to browse /pol
http://www.techworld.com/security/best-8-secure-browsers-3246550/
windows and apple are honeypots with NSA backdoors built in, they won't keep you safe. why aren't you using tails? or any of these OS's
http://thehackernews.com/2015/10/secure-operating-system.html
do you noobs not understand that ((they)) track your ip for everything from jewbook to /pol why aren't you "wok" yet?
https://torrentfreak.com/which-vpn-providers-really-take-anonymity-seriously-111007/
adjust your firewalls anons, they have ipv6 leaks designed to bypass your security, its time to increase your firewall and block every port your not using

its so much more then browsing this board, its about keeping your private information out of the hands of the government of huge corperations, who will just use it to get shekels.

which brings up a point, make a fake persona and use it for everything non-government and non-bank related. keep them from milking you for shekels, and reduce the amount of spam you get at the same time.

if you ever taken a database class you would understand how foolish that is. not only can they take the millions of bits of your information and mine it for useful information within seconds, they do it on a daily basis for everyone and every location to get more money out of people. they even have programs to decide who the big spenders are, and contact them to get more shekels out of them.

TOR was created by the US government and has been cracked by every major government intelligence service out there, plebeian.

The only thing browsing on TOR does is paint a giant red target on yourself like "HEY GUYS, I'M DOING SOMETHING SUSPICIOUS, INVESTIGATE ME".

No one gives a fuck that you browse /pol/. Not even your mother wants to participate in a phonecall with you, let alone a government agency spying on you. You aren't special. You are one ape who will die in an insignificant amount of time and never have any impact on anything. No one cares about you or has any interest in you whatsoever. They just want you to buy their shit. By using TOR you are entering into "potential terrorist" zone, and then they really will be interested in you.

yeah i used the free version that didn't back it up online. but i agree with you they are not safe
>>134560636
ahhh i have java turned off, maybe thats why i don't have that problem
>>

Isn't Tor useless on POL/ though ?
I mean yes , you can read but you can't post via Tor. I've tried it , it doesn't work. I can only read posts but not reply.
>>
>>134561118
yep for sure, can only browse pol and not post. unless your willing to get the 4chan pass, which i have always been quite skeptical of
>>
>>134561262
>willing to get the 4chan pass,
Yeah no fuckin' way. I like POL/ but not that much.
>>
>>134561115
Browser was left open, not being used. Traffic will continue indefinitely.
>>
>>134561365
Same here
>>
>>134547843
>then dont use tor, there are other browsers out there, and even though tails is more secure then most OS's they have different ones that don't use the tor newtork.

What's the difference though ? (i've never used tails) is it similar to Tor ? Which one is better ?
Is Tor just more user friendly or is still better in terms of anynomity ?
>>
>>134546605
It doesn't have to be a person looking specifically for you. They can just find everyone who jerks it to futa and blackmail all of them at once.
>>
>>134548742
Yes. Linux won't reactivate the Intel or AMD backdoors in your CPUs if you manage to turn them off. Windows will. Also, unless you disabled Windows Update last year and never turned it back on, all the telemetry spyware from win10 got backported to 7 and 8.1. There is no version of Windows that is safe.
>>
>>134561567
tails is a linux based operating system that forces all internet traffic through tor. i tried using it a few years ago, but tor was so fucking slow back then. its gotten better though
>>134561468
ahhhhh okay, that makes since. its one of the reasons i like tor so much, the security and privacy settings actually keep your info private, but so many companies try to block your access if they can't get your information
>>
>>134561567
Tails is a full operating system that automatically sends all internet traffic through TOR. It is also a 'live system' meaning that when you shut it down all traces of what you did are wiped from the machine. This is useful because often on Windows or Mac there are tricky ways to recover web history even when you use incognito or clear your history, but on tails there is guaranteed to be no trace.

You dumb bro

Wtf do you even have to hide?
>>
im not worried i only browse and dont really do anything wrong :/
>>
>>134561801
i actually did disable windows update around the time windows 10 was released, also i thought you couldnt disable the intel backdoors?

i don't want my future employers knowing i spend time on 4chan, this place is known to normies as a racist board full of pedos. or the fact i visit porn sites everyday. also i've found giving almost everyone fake info, keeps my email and actual mail from being spammed with junk mail
>>
>>134547304
>No normie is gonna use a weird OS
You can put Tails onto a 4GB usb stick and boot from it, in fact that's the preferred way of doing it. No screwing around with partitions or any of that shit, it's really easy and it makes TOR usage a lot safer.
>>
>>134562532
Yeah a company really has that capability and would spend that amount of money researching the 100 people they are considering for that one job. They'll check kikebook and that's about it
>>
>>134544340
I cant shitpost here if i use vpn
>>
>>134563009
actually you might be surprised how much info the major corporations collect on people, i wouldn't be a bit surprised if they routinely buy peoples info from ISP's and google
>>

yeah alot of vpn's are banned but not all, i would suggest trying different locations on your vpn. i wonder if its 4chan wanting to track us easier or if its all the shills purposely getting the vpn's range banned

also torrents have some great books on "ethical hacking" and penetration testing for those interested

yeah actually i keep my passwords on a piece of paper in my wallet, not the safest but since its just a list of random words/number combinations i figure i won't get assblasted to hard

yeah i would seriously suggest not leaving your passwords out in the open, maybe in a locked drawer or something

Can't tell you how many times I sat at a PC that needed work. Don't want to walk back to server to change their password. Glance around the desk....I'm in.
>>
>>134565594
nah man, its hard, i try and change my passwords every week. also i like to use multiple word passwords like Tr4ps4reG4y for example, so that helps a bit
>>
>>134565825
i remember seeing a webcomic on passwords and how to form them properly, using things like 4 for a and 3 for e doesn't help for password strength. the main factor is length and the range of characters, so instead of using 'B1gHors3101' it's better to do something along the lines of 'Horses101 "Are@rEally biG'
>>
>>134544340
I have never found a VPN that works on 4chan.
>>
>>134565809
lol yeah its fucking sad, i've heard stories of people just going around and collecting peoples passwords, incase they want to remote access in and do shady shit
>>134566112
well it depends, from what i understand most people just get the hash file for your password, and crack your password offline somewhere. so yeah length helps a ton and having all the different bullshit like lower/uper case letters, numbers and special symbols. i have heard spaces make it easier to crack the hash file though
>>
>>134565463
It really comes down to what sort of adversary you're worried about. If you are worried about criminal hackers, then storing your passwords securely on paper is fine. If you're worried about big brother, keep in mind that they could kick the door down at any time and take that shit.
Whereas if you store your passwords ENCRYPTED on your computer using a password manager they cannot force you to divulge the key and if your encryption password is good enough it is practically impossible for them to get access to it. This does not apply to passwords to online services since they can subpoena them at will anyway (provided they aren't already dumping your shit to them via PRISM).
ALSO password managers have a big advantage in that you are more motivated to use longer, harder passwords since you don't have to actually type them. For example my passwords are all at least 30 characters and completely random. No way I would actually put up with that if I had to copy them from a piece of paper.
>>
>>134566143
PIA currently does(posting on it with the isreal connection), although i'll prolly get the latest connection banned for making this thread
>>
>>134566413
very true, pretty much the only reason i stopped using a password manager is because i realized all they( the gubberment) had to do was break into my email account and then they could request a password reset. but yeah i think the password managers are definitely a good option if not the best
which also brings up a good point, encrypt those harddrives people, use bitlocker, if your motherboard doesn't support it, use a usb drive to encrypt that shit
>>
>>134566112
I was upgrading a 75 user network. Knew I would have to log in as each user before we were complete. Did not ask for passwords. Had physical access to SAM. Had every password in less than 2 minutes.

How to safe password:

>write the password on paper
>insert paper in condom
>swallow condom
>fly to morocco
>export condom
>find goat
>import password into goat
>bury goat
>fly home
>enter password
>>
>>134566516
PIA looks good. Thanks, anon.
>>
>>134566862
Yeah true if it's something like 1password then somebody is storing a recovery key on a server somewhere.
There is open source stuff like Keepass where everything is encrypted locally and only you ever have access to it (also means that you are SOL when you forget the password)
I know people who just store their passwords in an encrypted text file which is pretty damn secure as well.
>>
>>134567113
drawing a blank on what SAM means, but it doesn't surprise me, when we did active directories in class, it was pretty fun learning that with one password i could literally change everyone's password or force password resets or hell just about anything
>>
>>134567575
i heard alot of the encryption stuff on the windows layer, and you could access the binary without it being encrypted, but that was all beyond my skill level
>>
>>134567113
Why is the windows hashing scheme so shit? My $150 gayming GPU can brute force 20 million NTLM hashes a second with hashcat meaning that I could brute force pretty much any password under 9 characters in like an hour.
This is compared to 1000/s with Mac OS making brute force pretty much impossible. How hard is it for Wangblows to just switch to pbkdf2?
>>
VPNs are illegal in Russia. So i don't want to be kicked by FSB.
>>
>>134567761
It is the security database. Brute force in that amount of time. No password was over 8 characters for users. We got the really long software generated one for services in about 48 hrs.
>>
>>134568056
but then all the retards wouldn't be able to get there data back when they take it in to a repair shop
