The Berlin wall worked pretty fucking well and there's actually a lot that we could learn from it. Especially, the way they built it by first creating a line of soldiers, then laying barbed wire, and finally pouring concrete actually sounds like a fantastic way to do it. Of course, finding enough soldiers to stand at arm's length from each other all the way across the border would be more difficult. It might have to be done in sections.
