>pinching pennies to save money
I make 24k monopoly money a year and I don't have to pinch pennies to save money
srsly, I can maintain a daily coke habit and still have money to splurge on whatever whim I have that month AND save up

wtf is wrong with burgerland?

74k its a fucking lot. It depends how you live. I make 51k and here in PR that's pretty comfy, but if I want to have luxuries (like live in a penthouse jn front of the ocean and drive a last model porshe) I would need at least between 70k to 80k a year.
>>
>>134496926
If you live in a big city 74k goes fast. If you live in San Fran, 74k is literally poverty tier, you'd get food stamps and probably have to live with roommates.

well yeah, if I wanted to live in a swanky city center penthouse/loft/duplex drive the latest sports cars, etc. I would have to clear at least 3k-4k a month but that's still 36k-48k a month (euros)
not really that much higher, literally a promotion away and I work as freight traffic operator

>why don't Americans live with their parents

Our parents don't let us. They seriously hate us once we pass the age of 18. If you are over the age of 23 and living at home you're mostly considered a loser.

>74k
I wish I made 74k. I make 55k and I live paycheck to paycheck. One check goes to rent. The other check I used to get me through 4 weeks until the next check comes. I can buy a few things here and there but it usually gets eaten up by surprise expenses like new tires, new car registration, new clothes, etc.

Americans make more money but trust me, they charge about 3x-5x as much for rent here as they do in even the nicer parts of Europe.

I know some Germans/Swedes and we pay way more than you guys for pretty much everything - car insurance, cell phone, food, rent, etc. And your base wage $9/hr is the base wage here as well.

The catch is that most jobs here pay between 20k to 30k a year. Heck the GDP per capita here is 28k. I only make 51k because my job is in high demand (I analyse medical records for a Health Plan for risk assesment).

Only very high specialized jobs here make more than 70k and are usually c-suite level jobs.

social pressures in the usa are fucking stupid, you need a nice house a nice car and nice shit, and you need to keep buying nice shit. if you are hanging with people making over 75k a year expect to get shouted out of a party if you try to drink cheap beer. Other countries I lived in just keep a lower standard of living and are satisfied with it, they also don't mind buying cheap brands or locally. I don't understand why this is, but it's true. To be fair this varies immensely depending on where in the US you're talking about. I can drive 10 miles east and probably pay $1k/month for a studio apartment, or 10 miles southwest and pay $700 for a 2 bedroom. Then you can go to further extremes like Manhattan vs. Bumfuck South Dakota.

These numbers are pretty meaningless without some kind of overall cost of living metric like: https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/rankings.jsp

American real estate and insurance, they package up your life into very wasteful models. They are the primary expenses of any larger income household.

Americans will spend their entire paycheck, every single month, just to maintain their habits based on outward appearances alone. They will oftentimes end up penniless at 50, despite having made 6 figures a year for decades.
>>
>>134496926

Yeah, I can commute to work 3 hours every day and save $200-$300 a month on rent, if you want to consider that an increase in my cost of living.

You're not going to find any decent paying jobs in South Dakota. >You can't buy locally in America because anything that's local cost twice as much as it does online. They literally have a 20-50% markup to buy in the store locally.

That's the other part of it too. I shop are farmers markets and stuff and produce is cheap as shit and a higher quality, but I live in an agricultural area. The issue isn't that cheap shit is bad quality, it's that most Americans need to get the guarantee of a good brand label to feel comfortable.

I also just hate social life here because when I do and don't have money spending 8 dollars for a beer at a bar that isn't high end just kills me. It's the thing to do though.

>>
>>134500325

Again, simply focusing on "decent paying jobs" doesn't paint a coherent picture. It's wages AND costs, and the relationship between them.

I live in a metro area in Texas and make 53k/year. My job makes literally half that in west Texas, which is very rural/desert and sparsely populated, but at the same time, everything out there is cheap as shit except I guess obscure commodities.

Having said that, yes, no one wants to live in a shitty area or commute 3 hours/day, so most choose to live in high-cost living areas.
>>
>>134500567
It's not possible. My dad did the same thing and he just slowly fried himself over decades of use. You might still be able to function but you'll turn into a bitter irritable asshole, or some other variation with negative personality issues. >>134500503

burgers buy houses they can't afford. They sell themselves into slavery to the Jews by buying a super expensive house. The real estate market is a scam.
>>
>>134500185
they very much need the money. they could really use someone around the house to help with chores and such, they're getting up there. i'd happily give my parents the same amount i'm paying in rent now, they just don't think it's proper for their adult child to live with them. they don't want me paying rent in their house, they'd rather blow through their savings, sell the house and blow through that money, and rely on my brother and i to support them when that all runs out. i'll say it again: boomers have no perspective.
>>
>>134500606

I can understand this with things like clothes and electronics because certain brands DO have certain quality controls that make their products better

In some parts of America, not owning a home is literally throwing money away. My mortgage payment is $600-ish per month, and only about $350 of that goes to property tax/insurance/interest. If I wanted an equivalent apartment it would be $1000/month. And if I wanted to live in a shit house, I could do so for about $200/month (some houses here sell for $35k while shit apartments in the same neighborhood are $500/month)

The other thing where people spend all of their money is food. Where I live, a 5lb bag of potatoes is $2 here. Cabbage is $0.50/pound. Bell peppers are $1 each. Milk is $1.29/gallon. Onions are $0.80/pound. Eggs are $0.40/dozen. Bread is $1/loaf. Beans and rice are basically free. Pasta is about $0.80/box. Tomato sauce is $.050/can. Pork is about $2.00/pound. Chicken is about $1/pound. You could live very comfortably off of $20/week in groceries if you tried, yet people manage to spend $600/month on food.

Americans must be terrible at economics.
You rent when you could buy a small house with a couple of years of savings.

America has massive expanses of cheap land and dirt cheap houses - since they are all made of cardboard and fly away on the wind.
Even if your rent is 1,000 a month, there is no way you should have problems.

55k/2 = 27.5k. Remove 12k for rent. Now remove 2k for food (that's being extremely frugal). Another 2k for transportation and 1k for services (phone, internet, etc. - those are mandatory, without them you don't get a job period). 10.5k leftover. Now don't you go forgetting insurance good goy. And the cheapest house you'll find (in the middle of the niggerhood) is half a mil. Good luck. people live outside their means on credit.
having a job that pays 74k/year (and it is people who have "jobs that do this) doesnt mean you live on that.
it means you can take out credit, get mortgages, and leases which end up costing you what you make.

Euro's have next to nothing in savings and aspire to own few assets outside of beach homes. Plenty (not a majority, but plenty) of people in the US own three or more properties that can be upwards of 50+ acres. White people can have around $100k in various savings accounts, give or take.

Plus someone having that drastic of a price bounce probably works in an industry like software or something and lives in the city. 105k wouldn't allow someone to live downtown of a major and popular city in the US, maybe in a semi-gentrified suburb still infested with niggers.

Really depends on where you live and how you want to live.

I know people who live in D.C. on not much more than minimum wage, probably $20k/year or less. They rent a single room in a mediocre area and use public transportation.

I figure I could live comfortably enough on 50k per year outside D.C. Like if I had some investment that paid me that much per year I would just not work anymore. I could do it for less if I moved.

But I mean a lot of people are just terrible at money. I know a guy who makes over 100k/year and has huge debts. He just seems to have no concept at all of what things cost or what it means to buy everything he thinks of. He owes over 30k on his credit cards, last I heard. No reason for it. Seriously. People actually "buy stuff they don't need with money they don't have to impress people they don't like".
It's like the message immediately flips from "just bee urself :)" to "be exactly like everyone else" the moment you get a serious job.

>You act like you had no choice in school or loan types.
Really, come on. I'm glad I could chose what hand the sex monitoring chip went into. You act like I didn't take the best possible choice for both of those things. Why do you people shill so hard for the jew scheme that is student loans. I'm fully capable of paying back my loans with ease and fully understood I would be doing so before taking them out. That doesn't make the entire academic pyramid scheme banks, the feds, and school systems are running total bullshit. Having to rack up multipliers of debt compared to previous generations, far out pacing inflation, is not a badge of honor.

Ah, so you crammed in too much at once. See, I grew up poor. I have two A.S. degrees. I could raise a family in the same relative poverty, but if I don't have one, I'm using that extra money after my existing quite low school debt at the same payments as yours is gone to get a bachelor's. I already can start as a junior because of my existent degrees. Does it take a lot more time? Yes, but it's better ti stay within your means than over extending. I don't make all that much less, my take home is about 2600 a month, and I still spent 4 years, but I've got a lot less debt and I'm nowhere near the salary ceiling in the industry or my own company. My bigger issue is putting up with corporate culture bullshit long enough to be promoted quickly. I'm good at my job, but management is mostly diversity hires in my department.

All credit applications, regardless of whether or not the product offered is subprime, need to be reported to CFPB. Additionally, CFPB rules are not the only rules the OCC regulates pretty much ever lending product imaginable. So if you don't know what you're talking about, stop talking.

Not following you. Yes, it's a 401k. I was just pointing out that the roughly 15% to 20% I'm putting in savings a month is just for emergency funds, future purchase, etc.
>>

Jews have convinced the goyim that "living well" means buying the most expensive things you can.

My uncle lived the same life. He made around 200k and they still lived paycheck to paycheck because they had to have the expensive new cars, the oversized house, and all the fancy the marketing Jew told them they needed to have to be "better" than some shmuck who's only earning 50k.
>>
>>134507244
>15%
i think you really need to explain your money in money out for this to make sense, and at 250 posts. im not sure how it works for you, but dont set aside a percentage of your income as emergency (not sure what future purchases means), but set aside a specific dollar amount. any excess goes towards either investment or loan payments.

your emergency fund is finite, it shouldnt grow over time
>>
>>134496926

Again, why do you faggots complain and beg for socialism when you live in NYC, San Fran, DC, or LA?

Just fucking move. You can't afford the city. Fucking accept it and increase your spending power by moving somewhere else until you can earn enough to live in one of these cities.

Until then, don't fucking bitch.
>>
>>134507261
>I'm saying if people would stop acting like you need a 20k a year university to be successful, the bubble would pop

I completely agree. There is no point in some 18 year old going to an extra 4 years of high school for massive debt to get a job making 30k a year.

> I bet I spent in total what you did in one year and you have no greater relative economic power.

I went to school for something that interested me and could provide me with a comfortable lifestyle. How much you have in your bowl is irrelevant. I voluntarily went down the road I took, but that doesn't mean it's not immune to mine or anyone else's criticism.

Does he value his time at $0 an hour? Even if gas is cheaper than the cost of living in a city, you're still wasting 4 hours per day driving back and forth to work, with no compensation for that time.
There are plenty of situations where a long commute can make sense, no question about that, but to commute 4 hours a day to save $300 a month on rent or something is fucking retarded.

That's my post. Allow me to explain though. I don't live in a super high cost of living area but I like saving money so I can live debt free and buy neat stuff. Even at 74k a year I have to watch my budget very carefully (never eat out, buy only what I need, cook a lot, drive a shitbox that's paid for) in order to save my goal of $2,500 every month after my expenses.

With my new job at 105k a year I'll have my house paid off in 2 years and 3 months.

HMDA is administrated by CFPB to start with, so if you actually knew anything you'd know that. And how advanced does the software need to be? Incredibly advanced, because again, there's far more involved than the acronyms you listed.

I put back close to 300 dollars a paycheck, twice a month, often more. This is between 15% to 20% of my take home pay. I reserve a specific dollar amount as non spendable, the rest is divided up for various future purchase like a down payment on a home, etc.

>your emergency fund is finite, it shouldnt grow over time
This is the one thing that gets me. I have a horrible fear of not having enough cash on hand at all times so I tend to think of emergency funds as needing to grow. Good points doe.

Someone making 28k in LA is getting taxed 15% by the Fed, 15% by the state, and another 9% by the county on every sales transaction.

hi spaniard: the reason is we HAVE to drive everywhere here. if you have a metro pass your monthly transportation costs can be 50 EUR. here we'll spend that on tolls alone (add in car payments plus gas)

also, we have A/C which means our electricity bills are always higher than yours

also good food is fucking expensive here

also roommates is more frowned upon outside of the most expensive cities, so unless you want to live with a weirdo you pay more in rent

honestly, i dont know the rest, but i too once made about the same amount of funny money in spain and had cash left over and now i'm fucking broke
