Why is reddit so much larger than 4chan?

Does Reddit get money from ((((them)))) to push the pro-sodomite and other liberal narratives? Every post you make there is catalogued and available for the public to view just by clicking on your profile. That means, purely by going off your ISP, ((((they)))) can see your ZuckBook profile, your Reddit comments, and probably even what you're poasting here.

Why anyone would use Reddit is beyond me, but most people choose it over 4chan. What the fuck?
>>
>>134490718
Apparently it's easier for normalfags to use. I'd imagine that 90% of cunts wouldn't understand how the image board works.
>>
>>134490718

More topics to discuss, better moderation, shitty posts can be downvoted, better communities overall to have discussions relevant to whatever your subreddit is about as opposed to here where regardless of what you post someone will call you a faggot or troll your thread for no other reason than they're a teenager and think it's the height of wit.

Don't be such a sore bitch anon. Its OK not to be the popular kid, used to be that was a good thing around here.

Makes no sense to me. I still don't understand how Reddit really works. How does it decide which comments are displayed while others are buried?

And what the fuck is the karma system?

>>134491156
>More topics to discuss

If true, then this would be the only upside that I can see. It's debatable though. The chans have a decent number of boards to pick from, and most of the topics that don't have a home would fit in either here or on /bant/.
>>
>>134492379
Yeah, it's hard to read a reddit thread to me as well. Maybe I'm just used to 4chins cause I grew up with it.
>>
>>134490718
Reddit had mainstream appeal for years now. It's probably 50% bots and fake accounts upvoting advertisements and literal fake news
>>
>>134491156
>>134492379
I think it's more that the topics are organized versus depending on a thread or making your own thread. More dependable threads I guess, based on what I've seen. It's more organized.

I also don't you have to create an account to post there? And Reddit seems to have more restrictions on what can be posted, whereas here it's a lot more loose (which has it's pros and cons).

>why do normies choose Reddit over 4chan?
Normies can't into anonymity. They require credit and recognition. Not to mention image boards are antiques as far as the internet is concerned.

I say fuck ' em. 4chan traffic has doubles in the past year or 2 and as a result the quality has been more than cut in half.

>Why anyone would use Reddit is beyond me, but most people choose it over 4chan. What the fuck?

Because losers that will never achieve anything in life feel an adrenaline rush when getting upvotes, and they will do anything to get them, even going against their own interests.

Yes, liberals can't make good memes because they're unimaginative and can't really make anything else.

People who do things for free out of passion always produce better quality stuff than those who do it for compensation. Compensation in this case being likes/retweets.

reddit is trash

it's organized and allows any degenerate to make a board about something, so naturally normies love it.

the user base is fucking cancer. It's a mix of 35 year old catladies, homosexuals, young roasties & a their enablers.

The concept of having a "reputation" in the form of a name sounds great until any faggot can dig up something you posted in the past and use that to "win" an argument. Of course this doesn't matter to most of them because they jack themselves off to their shared ideas.

4chan and reddit are equally shit in different ways.

I started lurking here in 2008, but about a week ago I finally started using Reddit too, simply because the high degree of autism here has become too much to bear, and it's just nice to have a break from that shit sometimes, even if it does mean being around normies.
>>
>>134494656
Do you think it's due to 4chan being infamous (aka /b/)? I know before I came here it was considered a boogeyman, so many stayed away simply for that fact not knowing there are many more places other than /b/. Also newcomers here are usually frowned upon and are expected to lurk awhile before posting. I'm not sure if it's the same at Reddit or not.

This. I've gone on there a few times to speak against sodomy and have always gotten an extremely negative reception. I cannot stand how Christianity in America has been replaced with praising sodomites. If you praise sodomites, that makes you a "good" person according to liberal orthodoxy.

That spike was the fappening and it was what killed /b/. An influx of users is toxic for 4chan. It's the same reason /pol/ has gone to shit since the election to a lesser extent.

That is why it is so important /pol/ never embraces e-celebs who drive their fans here. They will be the death of the site.

>>
>>134490718

Its easier on reddit to make a snarky comment or get upvoted for socially acceptable speech than it is the Chan.

Normies thrive on social acceptance and strive to be one top of the social hierarchy, so they proactively pursue topics and comments that are socially correct, not true.

On the chan, it is different. Someone spouting Nigger and someone constructing a well thought out topic get equal weight, and aside from hiding comments and insulting tripfags/namefags there is an active culture of keeping Anonymous as almost sancrosant. Here, the idea presented must be evaluated on the strength of its argument and the merit of its logic (not always, but oftentimes) without regard to social acceptance. It's easier to evaluate an idea here because there is no other weight to consider, like social acceptance, nor do you seek permanent recognition for a well presented idea, and all other comments must be sifted through in order to find that topic. Hell, even shitty Austrailian posts have to be argued against and cant be downvoted into oblivion.

Think of it this way, reddit is like a faggot in a gay pride parade trying to one up everyone in order to get the most social acceptance. However, 4chan are like buddhists who wipe their asses after a good shit. Redditors act for permanent social brownie points and social cohesion, while channers struggle through a hard shit just for the experience. You don't impress anyone after a good shit, you just are better for the experience.
>>
>>134495505

Perhaps. I have made some pretty red-pilled comments on Reddit before and gotten insta-banned. Once my karma got to a certain low it said I couldn't post anymore for like another 10 minutes per post or something.

Seems like they're really trying to keep conservative down in that place.

Because of the upvoting system you can browse topics quickly and easily only reading the best comments (when it's not circle jerk upvoting).

You don't have to spend your day F5ing like on 4chan.

Normies have limited time between work, friends and family.

The upvoting system is not failsafe but on some topics it produces very good results (like the spacex subreddit).

there's a bible verse that pretty much sums up why

proverbs 9:8

reddit is hugbox and an echochamber that censors you if you call someone dumb and explain to them why they're dumb, and circle jerk over all the jew propaganda they're so proud that they learned

4chan is a place that will call you an idiot, and explain why you're an idiot despite most of /pol/ argues over deliberate misinformation where only pieces of the truth surface.

Easy answer.

Reddit has social desirability built into it. You can earn validation from upvoting and controlling narratives.

4chan is almost the opposite of that, which is why many of us prefer it.
>>
>>134504850
I don't know why I didn't think of that. I'll try /diy/ next time. That's also the other advantage of reddit when it comes to shit like that. I can search and I'm sure someone has had the same issue/conversation/solution in the past. Avoids the whole post-then-wait cycle.

pen and phone was a quote from obama. "i've got a pen and i've got a phone." in other words he abused executive orders, bullied and threatened people in washington, and then bragged about it like a typical nog.

This is why I like these small, slow threads. Good old fashioned /pol/ advice. Just like Grandpa used to give.

Plebs vs. avantgarde anon
>>
>>134506571

Why does that matter you dumb cuck? Censoring usernames is a standard /pol/ courtesy done by those of us who still have a small shred of normalcy left.

whats a legacy?
>>
>>134506371

That pic is so fucking true it hurts.
>>
>>134508452
Maybe I want to search the username.

Maybe I don't care. Now that you censored it I'll just text search the content and get the username anyways.

Protip: 99% of the time nothing bad will happen if you don't censor usernames
>>
There used to be a time when there was always a LOIC thread on /b/.

Also hours when mods were asleep. That was before the FBI took over /b/ moderation.
>>
>>134494656
What? (Yous) aren't good enough for normies?
>>
Final statement, when ISIS came out with their execution videos my surprise was the high quality of the video.

>Also hours when mods were asleep. That was before the FBI took over /b/ moderation.

I laughed at this, but then I thought perhaps you were serious. Were you?

/b/ is a literal cesspit though, truly. I would support legislation that allowed drone strikes on people whose ISPs were known to frequent /b/.
>>
>>134508452
censoring names is reddit tier cuck bullshit
>>

You can get banned from any subr*ddit for any reason, most subs are just echo chambers for whatever topic it is

>shitty posts can be downvoted
More echo chamber hivemind shit

>better communities

some leaf made me a mod of a sub during the fyre festival threads. So there's that. I haven't logged in since that night, so that's a fallacy.

you're obviously a nigger faggot.
go back
>>
>>134490718
It's rather simple, not?

While the chinh is comfortably laying in the shadow of the web reddit threw it self into the limeite with articles here amas there advertisement on pretty much every site

the ((((in)))) crowd moves between sites looking for drama and sense of anonymity. the rest of the #s are just lurkers and sheep

lope nope, 90 % of all the ideologies on pol are just variations on far-right white nationalism
>>

Pic related is so hilariously autistic, and endearingly innocent or something.
>>
>>134511652
I'm actually a moderate leftist that's open to right ideologies.
>>
>>134511822

You should try posting something like that in a thread on the front page. It's actually pretty fun.
>>
>>134511960
>open to right ideologies.

does that mean you support government handouts while still caring about 14 words ?
>>
>>134492379
It decides based on "karma" or "likes" and "dislikes", effectively. Posts originate from "subreddits" or as we might know them, "boards". Each of these has a theme, and anyone can make one. If a post from one of these is incredibly popular (gets a ton of upvotes) then it goes to "r/all". So, you might see movie news, politics, cats, libtards and drumplfings.

You must have an account to post, which sucks dick. Want to post something? Tough shit, people will look at your post history and judge you. Everyone is trying to be a comedian there, which is for the most part a bad thing. Occasionally, out of the mountains of shit comments and faggotry, you'll see a funny comment, or a little joke. Most of the time its just inane shit or jokes that are completely flat and non-offensive.

4chan has its problems. It hardly pays to run it unless you are willing to sell user information, and it is incredibly difficult to carry a conversation with a stranger.

4Chan could use some changes, like a (you) grabber to notify you like AOL online might, with "you've got (you)" or some stupid shit like that. No namefagging, just something to track when someone replies to you. I'd prefer not to have thirty tabs open and checking them for (you)s to see if conversations have continued.
>>
>>134512197
My progression went like this
>normie checking upvotes and emotionally reacting to them
>the front page sucks, you gotta filter x, y, and z
>defaults suck, you can only post in smaller subs where the smart people are
>posting only once a fortnight in unironic right wing extremist subs
>front page flame bait
>>
>>134512319
are you shitposting or you dont know about the thread watcher
>>
>>134512274
It's more of a mix of the two. I used to be a far leftist pig, but /pol/ has been redpilling me and I'm not quite sure where I stand.

I agree to an extent, but >>134512702 is also right. Watch a thread, hover your mouse over it and it will tell you when there are replies to your post.

It could be a better system, I agree, but at least it works somewhat in that way. There's supposedly a sound notification option in the settings but I've never gotten that to work.

if 4chan got a facelift and a bit more modern (I liked your idea for the most part) it could probably become a better website.

Also, does anyone know how this shithole DOES manage to make any money?

I get 4chans anti reddit agenda; however, you fail to realize how many you are turning to your side and the benefit. Im one of em. Most of the posters on here are just shills or libs trying to trigger righties. What would you rather have, allies to help fight in your effort? Or no exposure and a click that slowly dies out over time.
>>
Reddit is fried chicken. 4chan is sopa de macaco.
>>
>>134516953
Hey, I'm not one of the anti-reddit types. I came back to 4chan when reddit overplayed their hand.

Popularity was grandfathered in. When Digg killed it's community the entire population left for Reddit, which was tiny up until then.

i came here from newgrounds but that was forever ago, the internet was different back then i enjoyed the forums even though i was very young.
>>
>>134518755
Fuck, I used to like the flash games on newgrounds. My favorite in the 2001-3 era was anothersite.co.uk. Long gone. I'd give anything to spend one day on the internet back in 2002. I miss those days.
Going from dialup at 14.4 to 56k was amazing, then the leap to 384k DSL blew my mind. 5 minutes to download a song on Napster! What a world we lived in. I really fucking miss it.
>>
>>134518923
kek i remember the the jump to DSL and yes it was mind blowing. What was the board that you first called home? Mine was /a/ i found it bc i was a nerd and really into gundam at the time.

What if Normies are the ones who are sick? The level of cult like groupthink and hive mind in our society is insane. Are they the fucking Borg?
