On July 20 , Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte visited Marawi City where fierce clashes were taking place between the Philippine Army and ISIS fighters.

Duterte announced that Marawi crisis is coming to an end soon:

“The fight in Marawi would soon be over. [The] one thing that’s stopping us now is ‘yung sa mosque, it’s a big one, it has underground tunnels but not so much about that.”
The president expressed his concern over more than 300 people still being held hostage by ISIS fighters in Marawi city and said he needed a martial law to secure the city during this crisis.

So far, 427 ISIS fighters have been killed in Marawi City and the Philippine Army has managed to capture 9 others. However, the battle doesn’t seem to be coming to an end soon, although it has been going on for nearly two months.

It was a square, maybe 30x30 cm, with a mirror surface, and it had small figurines the "skate" on the glass in circles endlessly. I don't know anything about its mechanics or energy source.

SAA doesn't have a strong air-force, it mainly consist of a few bombers and fighter planes
they haven't developed a paratrooper branch and right now they don't have the resources to train paras (too expensive for what they can achieve)
you can't just take a regular grunt that is trained to fight with supplies and reinforcement behind him and drop him behind enemy lines and expect him to do well
paras are used for very specific targeted mission behind enemy lines to help the advance of regular troops on the front
you can't use paras to push a front by themselves, that would imply having to use huge amounts of paras and requiring an overstretched supply line that have to work behind enemy lines. paras work better in small groups that have an independent local command that can adapt better to unexpected events
look up the role of paras during the Dday and you'll see that their jobs wasn't to push a full land grab assault but secure strategic choke points and fuck up the german artillery/Anti aircraft/anti tank material and disrupt their supply line to help the real land grab at the beaches and the further push in the mainlands

so right now for SAA the best price/performance value strategy is using conventional strategy of ground forces taking territory with artillery and bombing to loosen the defenses
paras are only a bonus to ease the jobs, but they can't afford that luxury, as a matter of fact few nations have a real relevant para corps that can make a difference in the battlefield
