It's pretty alright.
Basically about hierarchies in relationships. Father to son. Husband to wife. Boss to worker. Ruler to subject.
But it's supposed to entail the responsibilities on both sides of the relationship. The son should be respectful and pay homage to his father, but the Father has a duty to protect and educate the son.
It's like the 10 commandments, the result of thousands of years of trial and error resulting in an understanding of a good way to live. Just finally written down and codified as 孔子说(Confucius says)
