Look man, the "union" is quickly turning into a confederation of states. The blue states are going to continue to be 1st world countries, and the republican obsession with states rights could actually allow them to become the small socialist nordic nations they've always wanted to be. What the red-states have been inflicting on the blue-states is not regulated capitalism. A well-regulated capitalism that uses a functioning and well funded welfare-state to artificially guarantee constant injections of money into circulation, while deciding on a case-by-case basis what whether a given product/service/industry is better serviced by the private sector, the public sector, or both, is literally what the blue-states have been trying to go back to since Reagan kamikaze'd the New Deal (which WAS a functioning regulated capitalism.)
