I'm part of my local antifa movement. One thing I can tell you is that they are incredibly stupid. They have very little knowledge of economics, politics, history, or even modern liberalism. The younger ones are just empty-headed idealists, and the older ones are burnt out from too much drug and alcohol use. Some are alright, they just want to feel important and be part of something meaningful.
I don't know if it's this way in other places (I live in a mid-size city), but if so, the only reason they have so much influence is because they represent the media-sponsored cultural vanguard.
