I am aware (thanks to following Xinhua and People's Daily for my own amusement) that PM Abe is also steeply unpopular at the moment, though those publications don't really elaborate on why. China has ulterior motives in touching on the topic, and it's media is routinely rounded up into: 25% "Pandas are Cute", 25% "China is Great", 25% "Other Countries are Shit", and 25% "Fuck you, Japan!".

Hard to blame them, considering the abuses suffered by the Japanese. Abuses which, to this day, Japan refuses to acknowledge fully.


I'm aware that, socio-politically, the Japanese value economic protectionism and an ethostate, which is fine.


Otherwise it is an oppressive culture that is slowly self-destructing as adults are slowly cracking under the immense pressure society places them under. Those that do not wish to apply themselves to the mold set in place are increasingly turning to things like Anime which has made Japan a bit of a laughing stock. All the fun and whimsy Japan is internationally known for seems to be a colorful expression of escapism that an otherwise dreary, black-and-white culture is completely unrepresentative of.

You have a feudal level of loyalty within your corporate structures. Meaning that it's impossible to get fired but also to switch jobs once you're "locked in". Bosses playing matchmakers between employees and their families.

Inefficient workplaces. Instead of focusing on getting the most done in the least amount of time you do the opposite. Try to work the longest amount of time while upholding the illusion of getting work done but don't actually get work done. I might be biased because I live in the nation with the highest productivity per hour and the fewest amount of work hours a year. But I feel like this is a HUGE waste of time for everyone in Japan. There is a reason why Japan takes the most anti-depressives in the world and this is probably it.

Police and criminal investigations are a fucking joke. Again this is yet another puppet show where you guys conveniently say that some deaths are suicides because you don't want an unresolved murder on your records. Disgusting habit that will weaken your society in the long run.

Inefficient "innovation & automation". When I walk into a ramen store I have to go to an electronic kiosk to pick what kind of food I want insert money bills and then take the ticket it gives out to the fucking guy behind the desk so that he starts making it. What kind of redundant bullshit is this? Either immediately recognize the order from the machine so you don't have to stand in a waiting line at the desk or just fucking say what you want at the desk. Mixing the 2 concepts fucking takes MORE time than doing it the old fashion way. Absurd fucking shit and things like this are ALL over Japan. Already stealing the precious free time you have left away.

I can go on and on listing tons of terrible stuff but the truth is that I think you are good people and deserve better which is why I am triggered even harder by these glaring and easily fixed flaws that make your society unbearable and dystopic in nature.
