Less retard.

so
what is society like after smartphones?

You didn't have vapid cunts inundating social media with inane bullshit

It was comfy.

Not AIDS ridden

people were more social that's for sure. women were less narcissistic
>>
>>134253198
Didn't spend too much time on useless games on phone and could go to sleep the minute i went to bed rather than playing another hour some useless game on phone.
>>
People were less autistic and actually socialised.

>>
>>134253198

people were more aware of their surroundings
>>
Women were way less full of themselves.
>>
>>134253510
The average age of /pol/ users is 19, someone did a poll a while back.
>>
People didn't act like autists and actually engaged each other and had conversations.
People had to know travel routes, print out mapquest directions, have a map, or god forbid read road signs if they wanted to figure out how to get somewhere.
>>
>>134253198

Less stressy, less invasive

Technology is supposed to improve life smartphones and social media have only made it more stressfull

Nothing wrong with older gen phones/text but holy fuck smartphones with all their cameras, apps, tracking, internet etc etc are another beast altogether

Slower paced, less invasive, people still had mobiles on hand but not to the same extent.

Much the same as it is today, but instead of playing on your cellphone you had to sit alone and focus hard on not looking like a retard while everyone else talked with their friends.

The first iphone in 2007 was one of the main causes humanity became what it is right now.
It was at the same time something revolutionary and something that would doom us all, this social media bullshit.
Some people should never be allowed to use internet, and it became easier and friendly for everyone to do so.

I had a pager. We used to use pay phones daily. I remember freaking out when my dad got a cell phone - was a fucking phone in a damn bag that weighed 10 pounds. I remember fuck beep beep phones that were like cb radios. First computer in Mt house was when I was 10. It cost $4 grand and would literally take 5 minutes to download one out use of a woman's tit. That was back in AOL chat room days when you had to fucking pay isp per month. Now I'm on a cellphone 12 hours a day. It definitely helps life in some ways, but pretty sure it's not going to end well. Probably population control in the long run.

>>
>>134253198
Generally speaking, people were more "real". They weren't worried about social pressures or how it would be perceived on FB, Twitter, or Reddit. Additionally they weren't indoctinated by the spew of crap, misinformation, and sometimes blatant lies that circulates on social media today. Back when social media wasn't a thing and smart phones didn't exist, people had to face the music if they were being stupid, their ideology was dumb, or they were being a homo. Now they have a place to hide and even combat reality.

I remember I used to ride my bike everywhere with my friends. We didn't worry about anything, always had fun, yeah we fought sometimes but we always repented and came back to normal again. It isn't like that anymore. People don't forgive each other. They just go to social media to wallow and hide. It's sad really.

You young fucks have no clue how hard life if you haven't dealt with encyclopedias. You needed to look up something that starts with "s" and some fat chick got it before you. So, you have to wait until that bitch checks it back in to the library until you can check it out and look up whatever the fuck you were looking for that started with "s". Would take fuxking days or weeks. Phones have made people so God damn impatient, including me.
>>
>>134256328
We didn't have a computer till I was 16. My dad had a brick phone that we couldn't believe worked and ps1 was the best thing out. Ahhh those were the days. Also only had one computer to share between 2-3 classes at school, now my kids have 4-5 computers in each classroom as well as a computer suite. Times are have changed. The old Nokia was a great phone
>>
>>134254518
And the mobiles didn't have texting. I got my first phone in 2005, 7th grade, and it was ONLY to be used in an emergency if I needed my parents and I was absolutely forbidden to text. When I came home I put the phone in a drawer with the batter out, and kept it turned off at school.

Most of you faggots wouldnt have made it. They didn't have trap porn back then. If you wanted to see porn, you would literally have to steal your parents porn magazines and flip pages. Back then, there was a lot more bush. Couldn't even see the pussy it was so hairy and you had to take your hand off of your little cock to change pages of it wasn't doing it for you.
>>

>>
I was having a conversation about video tapes and vcr's just yesterday. Kids will never know the pain of hiring a video from the store to discover the wankball that had it last didn't rewind it
>>
>>134257539
don't know that one, it's like hide and seek?
>>
It's not smart phones that have ruined society. It's smart phone users.

When someone talking to me I put my phone down and silence the ringer. I do the same when I go to the movies.

When I approach someone at a store I make sure I'm not talking on my phone. That's just common courtesy and proves that I'm not a fucking asshole.

Smart phones are wonderful devices, its just how idiots use them that hurts our society.
>>
>>134257645
Be kind. Rewind.
>>
>>134253736

>>
I had my childhood in the 90s, in my opinion the last great decade of any cultural relevance - or even worth mentioning.

There were real grassroots subcultures, good music created by artists with actual talent and songwriting skill - not degenerates performing music written for them by (((producers))).

Man, I miss the 90s - technology has fucked American culture so fucking hard

My dad came home with some hot bat chick and told me and my me and my baseball buddies we needed to leave for an hour. He gave the keys to his new Lexus and said there is a case of Miller light (that was 24 beers back in the day and not your pussy 12 packs) and a pack of Marlboros now go get some pussy and give me an hour. Asked for some weed too and threw us some Hustlers in case the neighborhood girls weren't putting out. People can't do that nowadays.

90s kid here and I think everything sucked in the 90's. It's what gave rise to the cultural degeneration we have today. Yes, I know, but people didn't have their faces stuck in the paper all day wherever they went.

They read it in the morning and then were done. It didn't constantly update every second for them to glance at.

I really don't recall people having to remain that distracted in the 90s or early-2000s before smartphones -- I really don't. At least with something like books they'd be doing something productive instead of paying money for the latest Candycrush update, or whatever.

shit sucked getting somewhere you'd never been before. be prepared to print out mapquest directions and hope you could find the place.
If i was driving at night i would write out the streets before and after a turn so i'd know if i'd gone too far. Shit was fucking retarded. I remember my first gps (Fucking TOMTOM) that had a 2" screen and worked pretty much. never updated the maps though so every once in a while it would send me somewhere weird.

I agree the 90s was extremely degenerate, but compared with what we have today, it isnt even comparable.

The 90s wasnt the root of the problem, the roots come after ww2, esp (((the 60s))), the 90s were just a later stage of the cancer we experience today

>If you think nirvana, puddle of mud, or the fucking offspring were good music you have a mental disorder.

Nirvana was actually a good band at the time.

The other 2 are literal shit and anyone who listens to the offspring should be gassed immediately

And people wonder why Gen Z is more redpilled.
When you get ignored as a kid for years, you either crumble or learn to educate yourself with the things you need to know as time goes on.
The more the Gen X and Millennial parents ignore their kid, the greater the opposition and disrespect they'll have to deal with from them later on. Not that they don't deserve it, but still. It's systematic.
>>
>>134260188
I had some of the best years of my life growing up in the 90s. I'm 31 now and try to give my kids some of that life by making them play outside and explore things. They climb trees, ride their bikes and skateboard even have a trampoline without a net! Don't tell the fun police

Instead of being concerned with documenting everything they were living it instead.

Not everyone even had a cell phone, and had moments of actual down time.

>People were a little more off the grid.
It was harder for government to tell you what to think through corporations if you didn't partake with normies, and now it is virtually impossible because of collective consciousness.

It was far better than our decade because there were no SJW culture and technology havent yet destroyed everysingle form of human interaction, but it was pretty bad comparing to other decades.

And you to me. I've started to think it's a "yuppie problem." It's really frustrating letting my kids play over with other kids. I show up and the other kids' mom just threw them a tablet or phone to them or some shit the whole time. Virtually all of them are like that.

I'm going pre-internet + pre-smartphone.

A lot of ppl had tiny phoebook on them, most people would remember numbers because you dial them regularly. There were organizers a lot of people used so could keep to organize your shit (they still sell these). Most people kept a calendar on the fridge to organize dates and shit, some people still do this. For information some people had a home encyclopedia, most just a library card to check out books and shit, also microfilm. TV played a HUGE role in everyones lives, all news was from newspapers or TV. You could not order any type of clothes you wanted like you can now (for the most part) which is one of the reasons everyone looked like they dressed the same / like shit. A lot of the functions performed by smart phones were performed through socializing with people. Everything was sort of hearsay.

I think most people were less educated before the smart phone take over. however, people got out more, were more physical, more laid back about a lot of stuff. It was both good and bad in different ways. I honestly think it's an improvement.

>best video games

I'm not really a gamer sommelier, but I'm much more into games with good graphics and "modern" gameplay.
As for TV, tell me one show of the 90's that I'm gonna name a better one of the 00's. (except for Simpsons)
>>

>I think most people were less educated before the smart phone take over.

I'm not sure about that. I think people retain less information because they can just look it up online in an instant now.

But, I'm not sure that would quality as being less or more "educated". I also think information overload is somewhat harmful -- especially coupled with people who don't question things.

>that (((news broadcast)))
Spics spreading measles across a first world country. Jewish lies about muh melting pot nation. All the Tv shows with rainbow children. Thank the gods for 9/11! Things have gotten so bad that we may actually have a chance now. Though I prefer late 19th century nativist populism, National Socialism was our last chance. WN was absolutely inept in the 90's. The internet has made the world worse but it will spell our salvation.

Do you miss the early-mid 2000s era of things, /pol/?

Everyone says things when to shit after 9/11 but I think things from Late 2001-2006 were still fantastic. It was 2007 with iPhones, Great Recession, social media, the fucking Big Bang Theory, etc. where things truly went downhill.

Well, eating out could either be a fun social experience with great face-to-face discussions and banter. Or painfully awkward and silent.

Waiting in line or at the doctor's office was dreadful and a small taste of what eternity in hell feels like.

Overall, you realize how much of life were moments of pause out of your control. Now, we can push buttons and escape to what interests us.
