I think he's fair actually. As everyone, he has some biases so he is strongly against religion, heavily promotes meditation, hates Trump, and on ethics believes there are rational grounds for moral truths. He's liberal in more traditional sense. Politically, probably slightly right of center by today's standards.

I've only listened to a few of Harris' podcasts. But from what I've heard he really sounds like the stereotypical arguer who falls apart whenever they're confronted by someone who isn't a hardliner.

It's easy to btfo radical christians, muslims, conservatives, etc. because all you need to do is show a single inconsistency in their arguments. But if you try this on a regular human being who doesn't have extremist opinions then everything you say loses strength.

Humans only retain their civility so long as their basic needs are already regularly fulfilled. Again I'd say that maybe 5-10% of people would actually live their principles if the veneer of civilization were stripped away.

The core of Islam is based around politics as well as religion. The first caliphs were called the Rightly Guided Caliphs. The Caliph is both king and pope.

Christianity has a specific church and state divide. "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's. Render unto God that which is God's." This is a clear separation and one that not all Christian groups have followed. However, Christianity at its core has that as a teaching in the same way that Islam has a core teaching of the two not being separate.
