I'm basing this off of personal experience, and mine could quite possibly be different than yours due to demographics, etc. I live in a rural community with a largely blue collar population. Most around here have never heard of 4chan, or if they have treat it like the pariah. There are a lot of communities like mine throughout the nation, these people by their very nature were going to vote for a populist president regardless. Also a lot of people voted for Trump simply because they viewed him as the lesser of two evils. The other aspect, in my opinion, is that a lot of it is reactionary. After eight years of Obongo abusing his authority on a whim, empowering radical liberals (fuck it downright communists, lets call a spade a spade), creating a race-baiting identity politics culture, socializing healthcare, rubbing shoulders with the kebabs, etc., and people are naturally going to go the other way the next time around. The populace is tired of being force fed shit they don't want and that they resent, and this is the result.
