Italian anon here. I've really fair skin (they call me an "albino" almost daily) and blue eyes. My hair is brown, but to be fair the color ranges from dark brown to dark blonde. It really only makes sense to use the term when contrasting people of European descent with those from other continents I agree. However, to deny the difference exists and say there are no White people is strange as well. People from Europe are very different from people in Africa. Certainly there are differences amongst Europeans just as there are between Koreans and Vietnamese. The concept of being White certainly has utility as a racial descriptor that should be broadly obvious even to average people.

I would say they have Caucasoid skeletons and there has been a lot of racial mixture over time in the regions they come from.

Most of the scientific study these days is geared towards debunking the idea of race to promote a liberal global agenda of integration. White is a common term used in English whether you like it or not. I'm sure you can find plenty of studies saying white people don't exist from jewish scholars if the word bothers you so much you can find comfort from that.

I disagree and I'll tell you why. When I say Italians are White I'm really making two statements. One is that Italians are broadly European because Europeans are broadly speaking lighter skinned with some variation than their African and Asian neighbors. Two, I'm saying that Italians are not Asian and/or African. I'm ruling out the possibility that those groups can be Italian. Now I say it isn't a social construct because it is a visible indicator of ethnic background, as imperfect as that may be. I can see with my eyes whether or not someone is dark or pale. This isn't a social construct, it is a physical fact where only shade is up to individual interpretation but even that can be measured scientifically.
