It isn't super long and is pretty straightforward instruction from Krishna to Arjuna. Just be aware that most versions contain commentary and annotations, which are useful but can be biased towards different schools of Hinduism.

Anyway, I don't believe hinduism, but I do believe that a lot of these old religions are a case of actual facts and knowledge slowly getting corrupted over time and turning into myth and legend. I do subscribe to the cyclical concept of time that a lot of the indo-european mythologies had, because we can see all around us how civilizations rise and fall in a cycle. And I do believe that a lot of this and stuff from other ancient religions seems to point back to advanced ancient civilization(s) that were washed away during a flood and rising sea levels at the end of the last ice age, like Graham Hancock thinks.
