In this case it's right. Republicans never voted for Obamacare. In fact, knowing there would be no republican support, the democrats focused all their lies on their own party. Republicans have no reason to continue subsidizing Obamacare which means it is slowly dying if no one intervenes.

So Democrats are truly interested in seeing anything happen with healthcare so that they can prevent Obamacare from failing, since if it fails on its own then it's entirely on the Democrats.

Trump has been eager to paint this as an issue that he wants to see bipartisan support for fixing due to foreseeing that collapse coming. Which will probably work at least somewhat.

Democrats wanted to paint any attempt to fix Obamacare (repealing and replacing) as being Trumpcare, that way any problems it had would be entirely on Trump. They're painting themselves into a corner by not wanting to participate in the watered down repeal and replace bill.

The Democrats could have at least attempted to show some effort of bipartisan support and instead are gambling on being completely obstructionist which means it won't be viewed as Trump's fault that Obamacare continues to collapse.

US Congress Loves Obamacare and Socialism. If they wanted to fix things they would pass this one sentence bill:

"Notwithstanding any other provision in state or federal law, a person who presents themselves while uninsured to any provider of a medical good or service shall not be charged a price greater than that which Medicare pays for the same drug, device, service or combination thereof."

>>
>>134096711

i still don't understand why faggots like you keep equating medicare and medicaid to obamacare.

22 million people are not on obamacare exchanges. part of the bill was to expand coverage under the current medicare/medicaid law. that's how the con worked, that's what everyone is saying in the media. but its not obamacare.

obamacare forcibly uses the government, through taxes, to synthetically skew the odds when it comes to insurers giving coverage so it can pay for its medicare expansion. its a sad bureaucratic shortcut bandaid to single payer. its not supposed to work. its supposed to fail to then shift everyone onto medicare. which would then be the equivelant to single payer. the problem is that the federal government cannot even fund medicare right now without borrowing billions of dollars.

the republicans cannot get rid of the obamacare taxes b/c they need them even if they removed medicare entirely. no one wants to move either way and be accused of destroying gibs.
>>
>>134098768
Republicans have a majority in the senate with 52. They need 50 to pass their legislation.

its been collapsing since it was implemented, its just dying off slowly, some states don't even have an obamacare exchange anymore. most doctors will not take on obamacare patients. You can tell yourself it isn't collapsing but the entire point of obamacare is not the exchanges, its the taxes. the taxes that fund the massive entitlement increase to medicare. the exchanges were supposed to be the "gift" to the insurance companies. but its a fucking joke, so now we're just stuck with higher premiums and a bunch of extra shit the insurers must cover eeven though 90% of the US will never use any of it.

>So Democrats are truly interested in seeing anything happen with healthcare so that they can prevent Obamacare from failing, since if it fails on its own then it's entirely on the Democrats.

Coup0le of points:

Obamacare was DESIGNED to fail. They did not have the votes to get what they wanted, government run health care. So they designed a stop gap that cannot work for long -- when it collapsed, they were supposed to have Hillary in place to go "Well, we have no choice left but for the government to take over." Demoicrats do not mind Obamacare failing -- what they cannot have is it being replaced by something better.

As to who would own it -- I'm not sure how that will play out. It may depend on how bad the collapse is. But thre GOP had a chance to repeal it, to replace it or to fix it. They couldnt get their shit together -- the party in congress is too fragmented, and the President phoned in his support from photo-ops in Paris instead of "art of the dealing" the shit out of it, working congressmen, making deals -- all the stuff that he sold as his core strength.

One thing we can be sure of -- when it fails, the news stories will not be about how it is the Democrat's fault.

>.."make something that will fail so we can implement a single payer system". Probably true too.
It absolutely is true. It all stems from the fact that in a welfare nanny state, anyone who takes ANYTHING away NO MATTER WHAT looks bad and becomes unpopular. They deliberately set these things up so that no social programs can ever be dialed back.

Look at what's happening right now. Most people want Obamacare gone. Yet you see fucktons (perhaps vocal minorities) screaming BUT MUH 10-20 MILLION ENROLLEES WHO WILL LOSE HEALTHCARE!!! YOU FUCKING MONSTER!!!
They do all this on purpose, because nobody ever wants to be the one to take an entitlement away after it's been given. They know this is the case, and it's why the leftists purposefully made obamacare designed to fail, so that people would HAVE to implement single payer.

The alternative is to just let the entire thing and the entire (((insurance industry))) collapse on itself, and then restart from scratch.

This one surprises me. When he didn;t proceed against her upon taking office, I guessed he was saving that as a "stivck" to threaten the Ds with if they started coming after him on scandals like the Russia shit.

But he's retreated into playing defense, instead of going on the offensive, to an extent that I did not see coming at all.

Given his tough persona, I would have expected him to appoint a special counsel to look into the Clinton Foundation and another to look into the DNC... and keep after the other side pretty ruthlessly until they backed off.

Besides poking fun at Pelosi and Warren, he only shits on them for obstructing, though. As he should. It's a shitty thing to do that actually does great harm to the country.

>inb4 republicans did it too!

It's still a shitty thing to do as opposed to coming together to make new policies. Besides, republicans only obstructed to stuff that bordered on being unconstitutional. Dems don't even bother to show up for fucking confirmation hearings for our Department of Defense.

Even though it has already failed for the American people it has not failed for the insurance companies, drug companies, doctors, etc, YET. But it will.

Cases like this also perfectly exemplify the failings of democracy, vis-a-vis the "party" system.

Theoretically, having multiple sides/parties represented is supposed to force people to work together and compromise to find the best solution for the majority. But that's not how team-based politics actually work.

Let's say you have an example like this, where the leading party wants to work with the opposition party to get something done. The opposition will refuse, even if it's something that is unambiguously good for the country, because they'd be allowing the opponents to get things done. And if the opponents get things done, the opponents are the ones who get the credit, popularity, and reelection. So the opposition will always cockblock, even when it doesn't make any rational sense.
>>
>>134101368
Trump could push for seizing the means of production and they would oppose it just because it was Trump who mentioned it.
>>
>>134098455
That would be a more defensible stand if he had been seen putting the work in to build a coalition, makes deals, and pass a bill, instead of going off to eat blue lobsters on the Eiffel Tower.

He might not have succeeded, but he should have at least been seen trying. Should have been dramatic lines of Biog Black Limos full of leaders from Congress, doctors, patient advocates, who-the-Hell-ever, pulling through the White House gates to sit with the President and work on a deal.

There is still a narrow window too do that, though if they want to get tax reform done they need to move on to that pretty fucking soon.

If we wind up with no Congressional action on any of Trumps OR any of the mainstream GOP's key issues, we are not going to like what happens in 2018.
>>
>>134102381

With who? Republicans can do whatever they fucking want now. The problem is the kiked leadership introduces "Obama-Care Lite" crap. We The People voted for REPEAL. There was nothing of value in that law worth preserving.

The only "wheelin and dealin" they do is with our tax dollars, our freedoms, our future and the patience of the people who elected them.
>>
>>134098611
If they decide to do all this now for full repeal, then I'd concede that you read their strategy right and this was a 4-D chess all along.

But I don't see it happening yet, and time is short.

If the President stays as detached from building a plan as he was with the plan that just died, then the expnation is different.

Maybe the media has succeeded in getting him into bunker mentality over Russia (it has to be a concern to him that his children may be in legal jeopardy now) or just too busy chasing the "Every Thing Trump Says Is The Worst Thing Ever" laser-dot on the carpet that he can;t do what he wants to do. Or maybe he just sucks at this. Or maybe there is some other explanation.

But if he lets this session go without fixing or repealing Obamacare, and stays similarly disinterested on tax reform, then a huge opportunity for America and the GOP will have been wasted.

While this is pretty spot-on accurate, it might have been worth a try for the King of the Deal to make an effort there.

Hell, the Dems have, from time to time, peeled off one of our guys and gotten him to switch parties in past congresses.

We seem to suck at that.

It's clearly more important. We still can't implement our agenda because of traitors in our own party. It's also more realistic. This is what he should have been doing all along -- though on a less obviously vengeful level. You gotta "carrot and stick" these things.

Need Maine's Senator? What can you do that Maine needs, to be done right after the vote. Need Alaska's senator? What other bill does he care about where you can give him a hand, or kill it if he gets fractious?

It's basic wheeling and dealing -- supposedly the President's strong suit.

The Senate is a fucking mess.

>Yet, we have this bullshit sentiment in our gov't that once an entitlement is given, it can NEVER be taken away.

It goes WAY beyond a sentiment in the Government.

You ever give a cat treats? Give him treats a few times, and every time you walk in the room, you are either giving his ass more treats or he is whining and begging and demanding that you give him treats. It is almost impossible to stop giving treats, he'll make you fucking miserable until you do -- because the world hs been changed since the time before you gave him a treat -- this is now a world where he gets treats, by Divine Right, and it's not a treat now, anyway, it's what Kitty is supposed to have.

Government entitlement programs are the same way, only the cat has lobbyists and activists to help him meow louder and more constantly.

Ryan is still a complete faggot regardless.

But yes, the senate is far more cancerous. Fewer seats and longer terms means each politician is "worth" much more than house seats. Both houses are full of shills, but the senate is FAR more kiked-out than the houes, for this very reason. It's actually possible for a fairly ordinary guy to win a house election. But the senate? >healthcare is NOT a right
More pertinent to the argument, healthcare is not equal to health insurance, nor is it only healthcare if somebody else pays for it.

We had a fairly clumsy system to provide health care through emergency rooms for those who could not afford it any other way.

Fixing that to make sense would have been fairly straight forward, then make coverage portable when you changed jobs, allow interstate competition and do a touch of tort reform -- then you have everybody a bit better off and still getting the healthcare they want.

Or we could just make is a gubmint program, those always work well.

May God protect you from ever having to get your health care through the system the government runs now through the VA.

>Republicans can do whatever they fucking want now.

They do not all want the same thing. And, unlike Democrats, we suck at winning incrementally. Going back to the "Jesse Helms" era, we've taught or =ur voters that winning half a loaf now and getting the other half later is an evil compromise with the Devil -- and when we can;t get exactly what we want, we let the Dems have exactly ehat THEY want and get nothing.

Dems mastered the art of taking an inch, then another, then another, until they have what they want. Every little victory is accepted, then they retool for the next fight.

Republicans need to learn that -- otherwise, as in this Healthcare fiasco, we block each other from any of us getting anything -- and Obama's law, not even modified, is still the law of the land.

Oh, gotcha.

The issue there is going to be candidate recruitment, and a very active Trump PAC to support the chosen candidates.

And then getting them through in the general, but most districts are sufficiently gerrymandered now that this should be doable.

The thing to watch for there will be -- does the Trump team invest time and resources getting challengers in place for GOP office holders who balked at his programs? Or do they stay focused on fighting with the press and each other?

If the former, they could indeed give him the Congress he needs to get some shit done.

You'll know if you start seeing candidates cropping up in the next few months, with photo-ops with the President in their press release and shit like that.

Be that as it may. I was repsonding to a furriner who posted the erroneous view that Obamacare was crafted by the GOP. Of course, Ryan broke that and kept shitting on Trump afterwards anyway, so I hope Trump remembers this and unleashes hell next year.

>But Obamacare was a republican design?

Defenders of Obamacare essentially use a Motte and Bailey defense.

On one hand, they'll attack Republicans for criticizing it by saying it's a Republican design to have an exchange where private insurers can sell their packages.

On the other hand when seriously pressed as to Obamacare's failing, they'll admit it's mostly Medicaid expansions which isn't something meant to be used by the entire population as it isn't economically feasible.

It's why if you simply don't subsidize Medicaid and the exchange that the whole system collapses under its own weight. Most are indifferent to talk about expanding Medicaid because it's been talked about to death, so if the topic is moved to whether or not to continue subsidies then the Democrats will lose.
