That's what I find interesting. A communist world would never advance beyond life on its own planet. A civilization aided by A.I. probably has a shot at space colonization. Could be that there are no aliens out there without powerful AI. Despite the drawbacks of consumerism and voluntary mass surveillance, this might be the right path to take.
