Okay, for anyone that believes in this shit. The more narrow your viewing cone is, the more the "true" size of the object is visible on the resulting projection. The ultimate result of that is, were the viewing angle parallel, also known as an orthographic projection, then the object would appear as big as it truly is, no matter WHERE it is.

The closer you get to an orthographic projection (and fyi, no camera can actually do that, it's to illustrate the point), the bigger the object in the distance is gonna get because of how fucking GEOMETRY and the laws of OPTICS work.

This "flat earth" meme is so dumb that I thought it must be a troll's joke at first. I grew up in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. We lived in a condo on the 19th floor. The condo was on the beach, literally on the beach. I could walk out the back door of the condo, walk about ten feet and step into the sand.

When we were very young, my friends and I would spot the huge cruise ships departing Port Everglades in Ft Lauderdale heading for the Caribbean. We would play on the beach and watch those enormous ships sail out to the horizon where they would look like they had stopped and began to look like they were sinking. As soon as the ship looked like it had sunk below the horizon completely we would head into the condo and up the elevator to the 20th floor balcony overlooking the beach. From there we could see that same ship again not sunk under the horizon, only to appear sink again a few minutes later.

There is only one explanation for that phenomenon — curvature.

Easy test:

1. Open up a gyroscope app on your phone.
2. Lay flat down on the table
3. Come back a couple hours later, the gyroscope should show that the phone turned otherwise the earth is flat (or at least a stationary oblate spheroid).

Then you'll know the truth for yourself, and won't have to take anyone's word for it. The results may surprise you. If you don't trust phones you can order a real gyro, its worth knowing the truth.
