I graduated high school last year but returned for one semester to bring up my grades. The teacher i had tried be neutral when politics was descussed. The class was 85% female and it was a liberal circle jerk at first but it changed quickly when me and two guys started debunking there points that are based on an emotional argument. Think 1776 revolutionary war, plus 80 is 1856 and the Civil War almost, plus 80 again is 1936 and start of ww2 in Europe. Big global changes after all of these, and if you add 80 to 1936 you get where we are now. Apparently Steve Bannon thinks we are on the brink of some large shift in culture and our history, and he and Trump might be vessels for that shift.
Not sure if it's true or anything, but it is interesting to look at history that way. Sort of the hard times breeds strong men,strong men make good times, good times make weak men, weak men make hard times Thing.

The more time goes on and the more I think on things like that, the more I feel like Conservatism and general right-wing politics are a survival mechanism. It seems like every generation that goes through serious shit, sees idiocy abound, and has to scrounge or fight to believe what they believe ends up on the right. Leftism is inherently sort of hedonistic, based on post-scarcity, prosperity, and kind allowances. Right ideals seem to survive in a vacuum much more, they seem much longer lasting, and there's something to that both in ways to hold it and ways to evaluate it.

Really, makes it all make more sense. You can't have a cycle or pendulum if someone can win and end it. If it's a cycle, of course the left is occasionally on top; and then, you need a good right front to come up and sweep it off its feet and tidy everything up. Survival.
