Wigger culture peaked back in late 90s/early 00s. These days black culture has been almost totally compartmentalized and commoditized.

Black people need to realize that the popularity of black culture is not a positive thing for blacks as a whole. They are treated the way peasants were in medieval Europe. Nobility would take dances, music, folk sayings, dress, and other cultural expressions from their peasants to augment their own culture but that doesn't mean they respected, idolized, or wanted to be peasants themselves. It was just another way in which peasants were used.

The same is true for blacks today. They exist to provide value to the dominant culture and unless they can break free into separatism, it will continue to be the case that blacks only have value in certain cultural lanes and are (almost completely) excluded from the rest.

American blacks got the beginnings of R&B from the Irish indentured servants, so your comment about the pentatonic scale is correct. but we borrowed as much back in return. The Irish wanted to copy the traditional gourd instruments of the slaves and adapted a Portuguese instrument called the banza for that purpose, this became the banjo used in minstrel shows that many Irish relied on for income.

Some Irish went home and took the banjo with them, which is why supposedly "traditional" Celtic music now features the banjo which is an instrument of African/Portugese origin. This is true of The Pogues to The Wolfe Tones. You will now hear Celtic melodies in most "black" music and you will hear banjos in most "Irish" music, the fact is that Irish and Black music has been so fused for the past ~300 years that it's impossible to now separate the two and only LARPers who can't play are dumb enough to make that argument.

They are musically talented but much of their contributions are hybrid african/European inventions. Blacks, exposed to western music and having their own traditions as well, invented new genres combining both which were further developed by whites later on.

Over time however the traditional European contribution to black American music has decreased to the point where it is almost nonexistent. That's how you see the degeneration from the early stuff like Jazz, blues, rock'n'roll, through 60s/70s soul music, and into hip hop. Hip hop is more like music you'd actually find in Africa than any of the older stuff.

It has definitely not helped, though I think the decline of music programs (or of the personal study of music as a whole) is a long term consequence of the recording industry. Something Sousa and other musicians noticed right when the recording industry was born.
