FED notes are guaranteed legal tender, backed by the authorities in various ways. They used to be backed by actual gold, but of course now we're all virtual, baby. This means that they're actually not backed up by anything real, which in practical terms mean they're no more real a currency than bitcoins.

There's a chance the blockchain will split between UAHF/BIP148, Segwit2x and Jihan/Bitcoin ABC who plan to reject Segwit activated blocks. If any minority fork maintains significant support the currency will spit between them (previous transactions and balances will be valid in both forks) and there is no 'replay' protection planned between them which could decimate the value. It's a fucking mess, but if it gets all of these faggots out of bitcoin who are trying to make a quick buck it will be worth it.
