Pi is the ratio of the circumference to the diameter of a circle and is a fixed universal constant. Its value has nothing to do with the number of degrees in the circle, which is arbitrary.

Who stops you from having base-anything scale on stuff? Math uses radians BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE TO ROUND UP AS MUCH so you end up with a better result. The scale you invent should be dividable by 4 to make any sense whatsoever on sine functions
>>

>>
>>133859717
365 days a year is non-negotiable. I agree. But 36.5 weeks of what I described would work. The half week at the end of the year could be like one long holiday. Coinside it with Christmas/Hanuka/WhateverMuzziesCelebrate and make it 6 days every fourth year and you'll be fine.
>>
>>133856509
360° is easy to divide into 2, 3, 4, 6, 12, etc. sections, it's harder to do that with multiples of 10.

We already tried this you stupid fucks. The French tried to make time metric back in Revolutionary France but it didn't fucking work because no one wanted to use it... due to the fact that it is inefficient and confusing. 24 hours can be divided into thirds, quarters, eighths, sixths... 60 seconds is also just as handy.

Try breaking up an hour into 33.3333 recurring chunks and you see how fucking stupid the idea of metric time is.

Hell, the fact that we use base 10 is an unfortunate consequence of counting with our fingers. Base 12, 16 or 20 would've made progress in the sciences so much faster.

Serious tho, the concept of the 360 degree circle, the 12 inch foot and the use of base 10 are all ancient concepts with reasons for their use.

Just refer to Carl Muncks work regarding the dimensions of ancient monuments like pyramids, mounds and henges. He proves it.

For practical purposes, a full circle needs to be easily divided into parts, hence the logic of taking a number that is a smallest common multiple of 2, 3, 4, 6, etc. There's nothing "imperial system" in it.

You don't need this for length, volume, etc. It's an exception. A full circle is just a full circle, you turn around once and call it a complete circle. With length you don't have "full length", etc. That would be arbitrary.

I would expect this post from a burger, not a fingol. Pi is a ratio, ratios are relative. If you have 1/3rd of every cake I make, it doesn't matter how big or small the cake is, every time you get a third.

If you want to use OP's retarded idea that circles should now be regarded as 100 degrees, the ratio remains the same, but Pi is now worth 0.872.

>>
>>133861346
For the every day person going about his daily life it is better. Because imperial units are scaled to the human body. An inch is a finger segment, a foot is a foot, a yard is a large step.

Using your body, you can very easily make rough measurements in real life. For example, approximately how tall your house is, or the distance to your mailbox, or the distance between nails....etc
>>

Here I was thinking that a foot was 12 inches and a yard was 3 feet. Thanks for setting me straight, frendo! #Imwithher

Is a month 100 days and a year 100 weeks?

I find it odd that time works in metric untill you get to minutes. You can have 0.6 seconds, or 600 milliseconds, but 600 seconds is now 10 minutes.
>>
>>133856509
>Not using superior radians
You are all a bunch of fucking plebs
>>
>>133862029
yes, that is the rough conversion between these different units.

If you wanted to go all metric, you could have deca-feet and milli-feet and kilo-feet. So you could have a base 10 system. But usually when you're trying to visualize something, it's easier to think about how much distance relative to your body

So I'm 6'6 because I have small feet?
>>
>>133856509
>earth is flat
>>
>>133862344
the standard "foot" was the size of the foot of some English king. But in the old days it was the foot of whoever owned the local shop. So everyone's "foot" measurement was different. If you were buying 50 feet of carpet at one guy's shop, it would be different than at another guy's shop

Anyway, it is roughly the size of your foot, but not exactly (so it's only really good for rough measurments). So for example, my feet are 11 inches long. So when I'm pacing something out, I subtract 1 foot for every 12 paces
>>
>>133862572
Thanks for the history lesson. That must've been one well hung king. Can you tell me what king it was? I'm a huge fan of history (I just read the entire DaVinci Code series and am now an expert on medieval history)
>>
>>133862850
When you don't have standard rulers or weights and measures, using your body as a ruler is pretty much all you can do.

And it's convenient. In real life when you're judging distances or making rough calculations, pacing something out is the quickest way to do it

Why would it take 10 hours? It'd be very arbitrary to define second as a fraction of Earth's rotation period, when it's changing all the time. A minute would be 100 seconds, an hour 100 minutes, but a day would be something else entirely. A year would indeed have 365 days, and a month about 30. A week could be 10 days, though.

360 degrees goes back to the babylonians, and units of 360 and 60 were used because of how they're easily divisible by many factors. Same goes for units of 12.

That's circular reasoning, moron. The problem with Imperial measurement is not the base of the system (12) because that base is superior to multiples of 10. Actually, the problem is that the measurements are all different. 12 inches to foot, 3 feet to yards, 1760 to miles.

If it were consistent it would be a superior system. Literally the only reason it is done in multiples of 10 is that we have ten fingers.

It has, faggot, it's called radians. Only schoolchildren use degrees.

fine then, just use real and imaginary numbers for calculating coordinates. the correct result is all that matters. math don't give a fuck.

Would be nice but the only way to implement it would be violent revolution followed by brutal dictatorship.
