Religion will only disappear when people are able to uphold a relatively just moral system which lets society live in a continous manner. Most people do not have a moral compass, thus said is impossible. So religion will rxist for a long long time to come.

No. Religion is part of human nature. Although it may fall out for fashion for a time, it absense would be due to some temporal phenomena which would itself eventually recede, thus making room for religion once again.

No. In the end we'll become the gods that are worshiped. We'll travel around to primitive worlds and fuck with the inhabitants. We'll give them our stupid ambiguous rules that are incompatible with their nature and laugh as they argue over the semantics, we'll do "magic" tricks to watch them squeal and bathe in the idolatry. Or perhaps we'll make our own planet. Will tell them stupid stories to distract them from science for a couple-a-thousand years and we'll appear sporadically to random people to make them seem crazy. We'll also tell those people differing things and have them start new sects of our religion so that they can fight over the trivial bullshit we tell them.

All in all, the next few thousand years are going to be fun.
