Yes, that's actually quite close.
They certainly aren't aggressive because of their breed, as pitbulls were purposely bred not to be aggressive so that they wouldn't attack the audience during their fights.

Imagine you're a complete beta - Girls don't look at you, men only talk to you when shaking you down etc. - so if you do get a dog, you of course compensate your tiny ego by getting a badass pitbull, german shepherd (the service breed, not the "pure breed") or other "fighting" breed. Then of course, since you're absolutely beta, your dog feels that it has to protect you and you're to weak to convince it otherwise. Also, since you do not have children, you might even see an aggresive dog as something positive - after all, what's more badass than a tough guy with a constantly growling pitbull? (except that you're a pasty little faggot).

On the other hand, the other breeds capable of taking down a human are normally either raised as family dogs (which aren't allowed to show aggression due to the children) or as service dogs (shepherds, security etc) by people that actually know what they're doing.
And then of course there are actual aggressive breeds like chihuahuas, which are simply to small to do serious damage.

It's a combination of both. People talk about them "snapping", but I doubt they snap more than other dogs. The thing about them is they are breed to kill, so when they do attack they do a lot more damage then a golden retriever would. I got my dog and knew why I'm getting a dog like that - for protection of my business and home.

I knew as much as I could about this so called "breed" when I was getting my dog.
I needed a working dog and although he is also my pet he is only my pet.
When someone asks me if my dog bites I say "Yes, he is not a pet".
He is a working dog.
He is trained.
And by trained I mean- if he ever got aggressive one word: "leave" would stop him immediately. Because he is trained.
If I felt threatened on the other hand, one word would make him attack.Because he is trained. One word will finish this attack as well.
I would never have to kick my dog, hit my dog or yell at my dog. Because he is trained.
So the simple explanation:
If you know what dog you want and why you want it and have fucking knowledge to train it then you can have any dog.
If any of the above is not true then don't get a fucking dog because you are asking for trouble.

Pitbulls are just like any other dog.
There are many breeds that are just as aggressive, just as large or larger, and with just as strong a bite (dogs bites are nothing compared to wolf bites).
The problem is dog fighting, animal abuse, general human ignorance of how animals work, propaganda (to make the problem seem worse than it is), inept corporate controlled government (we need to regulate this and now we have an excuse!), and the lying media.

When someone's 2 year old gets ripped apart because some irresponsible fool left their rescued fighting dog alone with it for 12 hours, it'll get on tv every time.
As for the "pitbull" only existing for fighting, that would be like saying kitchen knives are only for warfare. Dogs are weak wolves, bred to be safe to keep around the house for work and for companionship.
