Even though this thread is utter garbage, I will grace it with some information.

The drug culture is a problem. The drugs are fucking great.

For those who actually study what is relevant,
pot is akin to a dropout layer or drop connect layer in neural networks. It helps the mind generalize if significant thought are being pushed while in the state of highness. It also helps sections of your mind communicate that never would have otherwise, granting new insights.

The catch is you have to think.
Thinking while on pot is generally unpleasant unless you have something you are really interested in.

I smoke pot occasionally to deal with my alcoholism and I have drug issues extending to my adolescence because of the environment I grew up in. I've retained humor, wit and intelligence despite my upbringing but when I get stoned those things disappear. I really dislike pot and I am way over qualified to make that opinion.

Sure you'll live longer but you're already damaged goods and I can say with certainty that a stoned person is more incapacitated than a conscious heroin user, at least in terms of speech.

Yes, while you are on weed, you are stupid. The brain performs sub-optimally. However the situation your mind is placed in is similar to the situation a deep neural net is placed in (regardless of the overarching architecture (i.e. DNC with an LSTM controller or just a simple feed-forward net(If you wan't to know more than jargon, google the terms and look into the math)) when a dropout (a % of artificial neurons are ignored) layer or a drop-connect layer (a % of connections between neurons are ignored) is used. The are used to help the network generalize, and works well i practice (within certain ranges, 10-20% on each seem to works the best in general). The exact same underlying mathematical principles apply to the mind.

However, the benefit isn't in the short term, while you are stoned. Its that training your mind, sometimes, while stoned, can be very beneficial and enjoyable in the long term.
