In my high school in Iran, each student was assigned a counselor who would constantly check in with you and make sure you're studying, doing homework, etc. If I ever got a less than average score on ANY subject, the counselor would keep me at school and not let me go home until I studied the subject, retook the test and got an acceptable score. Plus, they would not allow any phone in the class. You had to be 100% focused and doing good, or the teacher would humiliate you in front of everyone, have you stand in the corner or loudly call out your test scores.
